Since when is it too much to ask that a game is simply fun? Who cares about name changes or any of that other nonsense if you're having a great time playing it? Not quite sure either, since none of those features were ever promised. The only thing they did demonstrate that ended up being cut was having to pay for weapons, and I don't see anyone whining about the absence of that. Gameloft makes decent games, and NOVA will probably be a lot of fun. That doesn't impact Ngmoco's customer base at all, though. This game is going to probably be less than half the price of NOVA, and the online component will probably work better than NOVA's. I don't think you're going to see many customers holding off buying Eliminate so they can get a more expensive and less polished alternative. You'll probably see a lot of shooter fans get both. Wolfenstein is a true FPS, and it doesn't have any multiplayer at all. If you're in the first person, and you're shooting things, it is an FPS game. Any additional game modes would require extra development time, and I don't think anyone wants them to delay the game any more than it already has been. Once it launches, I expect to see plenty of new things added over time.
boo this game and the people behind it! with this looooongg ass wait.....its only making it worse for themselves. the hype er whatever it is theyre trying to build will just be too great for its own good. no bueno... theyre already letting people down with the 4 player....no teams n stuff. theyre just stringing us all along....with their useless promotion/marketing strategies. haha they slowly introduce disappointing news..... i dont usually hate on games er devs but this is my one exception....ngmoco/eliminate. i wish i had more hands....so i can give these people more thumbs down. actually....now i think ngmocos...not so good...ideas arent that bad anymore. wanna know why? because the other devs like gameloft will see their crap ideas and just make better modes n such. so ngmoco.....keep up with your nonsense so the other devs know what they shouldnt be doing....
Not really. As randomdude said, this isn't a true online FPS for me. IMO, a true online FPS needs to have at least 3 vs 3 team DM. I realise that this is the iPhone were talking about, but come on, the iPhone can do better than just 4 player DM lasting only 3 minutes long. I just hate the fact ngmoco:-( and Apple (in their keynote) have been hyping this game like mad for ages now. I liked the idea when I first saw it, but the combination of the long wait, the various name changes, the addition of the 'buying virtual points', the removal of original features etc has caused me to lose almost complete interest in this game. Next we will probably hear that the shooting element has been removed, and now all you do is aimlessly run around. I just hope that Gameloft gives MC: Sandstorm that all important online MP update with better game modes than just 4 player deathmatch.
Is anyone keeping track of the people who hate ngmoco and won't be buying Eliminate so we can giggle when they're all posting how awesome it is in the "Eliminate is OUT!" thread?
That thing they're trying to build is called a game. They're not trying to string anyone along, they simply haven't finished the game yet. It isn't ready yet. It still crashed a few times as of last week, and there is still some balancing work to be done on weapons and armor. They don't want to ship a broken game and have to pull it off the store, the way Gameloft did. Keep in mind, this isn't some huge team of hundreds of people working on the game. It is just a handful of people who are putting in long hours into trying to get the game launched as soon as possible.
i dont care anymore...hahah. yada yada yada.....yea maybe when it comes out....itll be awesome. good for them.....i still say BOO!
Then don't buy it. If you've already made up you're mind that you hate these developers or this game, then why are you wasting your time posting here for a game that you're never going to play? The game is a lot of fun, and that is the important thing to me. I don't care about the name or the marketing videos or the release date, I just care about how enjoyable an experience the game is. I had a blast with what I played of Eliminate.
Some of us didn't get to played it so we have no experience with how good it is so you can't compare us who has no experience to you who have some experience with it
i post here because i can.....im bored....and apparently get random people mad.haha geez i dont mean to irritate innocent bystanders.haha just shooting my mouth off to ngmoco(i know youre reading this!). haha
That's my point though - why jump to conclusions about how terrible this game is going to be based on completely inconsequential things like marketing videos and names? The true test is going to be how fun it is, and we won't know that for sure until the game launches. I've played a beta, and I say it is excellent. All of those other community day posts linked to in the first post say the same thing.
I think it just irritates people because it's the same song and dance with every upcoming release thread. It doesn't matter if it's an ngmoco game, a Gameloft game, Minigore updates, or anything else. They all seem to follow the same pattern of people being extremely excited when something gets released, then they face the cruel reality that games actually take time to develop and they won't be released tomorrow which somehow makes them angry? Believe me, if ngmoco had some old style switch like this in their office: And dusting off the cobwebs and throwing it would put a fully completed copy of Eliminate up on the App Store, they would have done that months ago. The fact that it has taken this long shows that ngmoco isn't going to release some half-assed barely complete game with the mindset of "eh, we'll update it later" like so many iPhone games these days. I know everyone is anxious to play the game, but think of an iPhone game as baking a cake. You don't want to pull it out early and have your delicious cake be all mushy and underdone. In other words-
Think as the cake is not yet put into the oven, people tend to take a nip of it many times (or from the spoon)
The problem i have with energy is the microtransactions, at this point i've gotten more comfortable with the system (Mostly anyways, the energy still annoys me but not as much as it used to) and based on ngmoco's track record, and the info from Kmacleod, it sounds like the game is still far off, but the wait will be worth it. After all, he does have more hands on experience with it than most of us. Edit: Looks more like an arena fps at this point. Also, 1+ to pies.
You're absolutely right. Ngmoco doesn't make money by holding back a finished game. They are even more anxious for this to be released than we are, because evvery day this isn't in the store is money out-of-pocket for them. They have a high standard of quality, and they're working as fast as they can to deliver.
@kmacleod Thank you very much for answering all of those questions. I really appreciate your help here, as I'm anxiously waiting for the release and have already seen all media available a dozen times While test playing ELIMINATE what FPS (frames per second) was that build running at? Have you had the chance to test it out on your 3GS? What was the performance? NG have already told that the 3GS will get an enhanced version. Have you seen the differences? Are there any as far as graphics concerned or is this all just about more FPS? The whole energy-based upgrades is the main problem for ngmoco right now I guess. They need to make it hack-proof, as it won't take more than say 2 days for hackers to find the variable and change it in order to renew energy for free. I can see a free energy upgrade APP coming on Cydia two days after the release date. So that at the push of a button your energy is completely recharged. I also do agree that ngmoco should take their time to complete the game, however hardcore fans like me are waiting for months already and counting the last days in September in the hope that the final countdown leads to the release on the AppStore. I understand that they are glad to build up as much hype as possible. I'm visiting their sites daily in the hope of getting some good news or at least some sort of update on their progress. They promised to deliver until the end of summer and they haven't met that deadline. They should understand that a lot of new customers are now on a search for definite infos and dates and while knowing that there's a hype already they should at least offer some more eye candy and videos of game play to make up for the delay. They are absolutely not open to the masses so far and are also not answering questions on their support page which is not nice. I'm a fan of ngmoco, however I think they can do better and should be careful now as the most hardcore and loyal fans are getting annoyed now. I'm hoping that the game will be released as soon as it is done and hope for it to become a huge success as I believe the people behind ngmoco have done a great job during the last years. But please be more OPEN to the REAL community and you will get more love in return.
Hey, welcome to the site! the build I played ran at a steady 30fps. The 3GS version includes better textures and shaders, and also should run at 30fps. These extra graphics are mandatory, so you won't be able to disable them and get 60fps, which I think is a mistake. Ngmoco has hack protection in place, but I don't know if they'd like me going into detail about it, and I don't know very much anyways. I do know that they've put efforts into place - let's hope they succeed. I agree that they could have done better marketting the game, and I think they would as well. Still, this is a new marketplace, and I don't fault them for trying to do this type of promoting.
Thank you for your reply! I must agree with you that they should also offer the 60fps version for pro gamers. Tomorrow we'll get the last infos and hopefully the release date or week. I've just played IFPS Online and just can't wait for ELIMINATE, since I expect far better controls and more fun overall. @kmacleod How did you like the controls in ELIMINATE?
