I think you guys misunderstood the tweet... They were testing the server at Canada for the servers, they never said that It was going to be released in Canada first.
I bet it will be exclusively in Canada for a short time. 12 hours at max. My prediction is it will be released Tuesday.
Imech's servers were very laggy at first but the problem was fixed in a couple of days. I think eliminate will have the same problem. I think i read somewhere that the energy system was implamented to combat over-crowded servers, but i dont think this will stop many people.
It wasn't a tweet, it was posted by Allen in this thread that the game would be launched early in Canada. We've also been discussing the early launch all day, and nobody from Ngmoco stepped in to correct us.
Yeah, I think it will just be an early problem that can be corrected quickly - I'm not expecting major downtime, but I do think there will probably be some sort of issue. There usually is with online games of this magnitude.
DinoSmash Online and Cocoto Kart Online ? This is the first online game for ngmoco so they need to get some experience though. From my experience the main problem here is not the server-side, it's more the client-side which needs some programming experience. The iPhone likes to drop connections and people don't always have a good and fast connection so you need to adapt the game to avoid people seeing it as lag. This is a lot harder than on PC/Mac.
Well online issues will almost always crop up with any game, so I am just suggesting that we proceed with caution, rather than automatically assuming everything will run fine. Also, I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but I made my own Eliminate iPhone wallpaper earlier today. And now I've got to sign off. Hopefully when I sign on tomorrow, the thread won't be as much of a spam-fest as it was yesterday
Yea but he had experience in the field of online games for the iPhone which ngmoco didn't so they need some practice
Very nice kmacleod. I love how you made the players pop out like that against the sunset background. Did you render that?
