i didn't say that, but for a top tier game like this and since Apple is sponswring ngmoco, wouldn't you think it would skip all the other peiple getting approved and go to spot #1 so it can be approved and released within a day?
Ok, I agree! The one of the most anticipated among the people who actually care about being or getting informed! It's almost half a year since they showed the first demo on the 3.0 preview event. Since then a lot of people were waiting for it. ngmoco run advertisments on sites like Apptism for months already just informing people that the game will/might soon be released so I can't think of any game before that was being promoted months before introduction.
So, in that case, Eliminate isn't the first original game. And, to show you that you're wrong, FPSs like Alien Arena and Quake 3 (Eliminate was built from Quake 3 engine) have existed before this one. Same with Real Racing. Not original.
All sort of games have existed since the release of Super Mario, Doom and the first racing game. Everthing else is just the same genre. What makes those games original to me is the way those games where designed and the concept behind it. Real Racing is original because it's actually the first racing game actually worth playing on the iPhone. IFPS Online is on the App Store for months but there's just nobody playing it online right now. The graphics don't look any worse than the ones in Eliminate. Yet, it is a different concept. ngmoco has invested money, small individual developers just don't have into building the server infrastructure, hiring some of the best producers, designers and engineers. The concept of mixing FPS with RPG and the energy / credit based upgrades are NEW to the iPhone. It's not just Quake 3 ported to the iPhone 1:1.
Eh, you're just mad at him because he suggested that some game loft stuff is good quality I disagree. As far as being a 2D side scroller with ball shaped characters, Rolando is nothing like Loco Roco (Thank God).
There are a many more "original" iPlatform games than just Eliminate, Rolando, and Real Racing. In any event, all three of those games have analogues in other platforms. Doesn't detract from their overall value: they're simply not original games per se. Of those three, Eliminate seems the least suited to the device, simply because FPS work much better on a larger screen (and IMHO, on a PC, not a console). Doesn't mean that it won't be a fun, highly accomplished game. But it's certainly nothing revolutionary on the platform.
Rolando is similar to loco roco only when it comes to graphics on a screenshot. The actual gameplay is way different. Again it's not as similar as say Modern Combat and CoD.
This thread has absolutely nothing to do with Gameloft. If you want to bicker about Gameloft, find a different thread. That was the main reason why the other one was closed.
I'm not saying the WHOLE concept is original. It's just that effort behind building the network, matching system based on experience, character upgrading etc. Eliminate bears a lot of risk since it's based on online play only. They'll need to ensure an infrastructure works and does that well, otherwise the whole last year was a waste of time for them. Also they will have to be constantly working on updating this title so it's work in progress. Today there is absolutely no new and original concept. Everything builds on something else or is at least influenced by something else. I'm just saying that ngmoco is risking a lot with this title.
Include me on your list too. I love Gameloft's games. You could even call me a fan. And I am a boy. So I am a fanboy? You got a problem with that?
Could everybody stop babbling about Gameloft? They just aren't relevant here. If you're asking a question about how this game compares in a specific way with another way that Gameloft chose to implement something, that is the only reasonable purpose to bring them up here.
True that. Let's celebrate the hopefully good news to be announced 50 minutes from now. I've been waiting for far too long.
I wasn't talking about Gameloft, I was referring to expandin's ridiculous "facts". Only about twenty good quality games out of 50,000? Most iPhone games are on multiple platforms??
