Ahh yes, excellent game. Hopefully once Eliminate and TPD are out, we'll find out more about Rolando 3
I think there is a chat lobby in games between friends, but there isn't any sort of public one. I think that it is odd that there is no private messaging built into Plus+ yet. Too much has to be done outside of the service right now.
kmacleod, since you've tried the game out already: Do you look around by dragging a mini invisible version of screen on one side of the ipod? You know something like Modern combat except the screen is compressed into a smaller area. I just asked this bcuz it would make looking around quickly a little easier, in the videos I ddint like how it took so much movement just to keep a guy within your sights when he walked like 5 feet.
to pass the time i just improved my times in iblast moki. Right now im ranked 39th on the first level pack. about 7 behind macleod, I just cant get to his score tho....
Kmacleod, I really respect you and value your input and all but you can't go onto an online gaming forum filled with hundreds of people and expect everything to go perfectly. One way or another, things will stray. With a big topic and game as this, everything has been asked to death and so people try to add more to the convo not meaning to spam. They just want this to stay on top for more info and remain hopeful that it'll get released. If the same questions were asked over and over since everything has already been asked but people are too lazy or it's too much of a hassle to look through and search, then eventually it'll start to get monotonous and very tiring. They just want info and are excited about the game. I doubt that the reason the developers left is because of the spam. They drop by from time to time to deliver a huge bit of news and then leave again. Occasionally coming back to answer a question or two. The reason we haven't seen them is because there's no new info worth it. Their most likely waiting for it to become available to post again. On another note, 3-6 days with the testing or without? Cause without the testing it could turn to 6-10 days.
Do you guys think they'll scale it up? For now, it'll only have 4 player matches, but do you think that, if it turns out to be a success, they'll upgrade their servers and scale it up to 8 players or maybe even 16 players if the hardware can handle it? Just a thought.
I wouldn't care for a public chatroom now that I just realized it could be chaotic. Is there a way of joining rooms instead of matchmaking? If so is there private ones? I'm really curious how online will work. Brb. I will read the response later.
Upping the player limit won't work for a number of reasons. One is latency Two, the current maps are all designed to work around 4 players being in a fight. 8 would be too hectic to be fun.
I doubt it. Xbox live has troubles with 16 players many times. That would way to laggy, and the ipod is definetly not more advanced than a xbox360.
Well I've heard that the controls were tweaked a bit since I played it, but the way it worked for me was very similar to Dropship, except with the joysticks being invisible. All sensitivity is adjustable - all of us at the community day thought that the controls were way too soft, and had to increase the sensitivity. There is also a fast-look option, where if you flick your finger accross the screen, the character does a rapid spin. I never used this feature once though, because the increased sensitivity made it unnecessary. Definitely download Dropship if you want to get a feel for how Eliminate will control. It feels somewhere between that and MCS.
I don't know if they will, but even 6 players would be nice. 4 just doesn't seem like enough to have the same amount of multiplayer fun as a lot of different people in one match.
aight thanks man. I asked that like 30 pages ago but u werent on. OKAY now im gonna go play dropship to prep for this game.
The game doesn't really divide into rooms. You really only have two options - a friends match and an automatic match. In a friends match, you send push requests to people on your Plus+ friends list. I don't know specifics about this gametype, such as how much credits you can earn or how many players minimum can play a game, because I haven't had a chance to test it. In an automatic match, Ngmoco's matchmaking engine will put you in a game with other people who are similarly matched. That matching is done by combining the skill level and equipment level of each player into one number, and matching them by others who are close to that number.
Yeah, 16 player matches are not gonna happen but 8 player matches can be achieved, IMO. I think that, when it comes to graphics, the iPhone 3G and 2G touch can probably handle 4 more players. If they upgrade their servers to be able to handle a higher number of players per match, we'll probably see lag-free 8-player matches in the future. It would be great.
I just saw that actually, glad I could answer now at least Too much spam in between when I signed off and when I signed on, makes it hard to keep up.
