Sorry, Lisianne, I've been deep in my thesis and some huge paper profiling the economic impact of the big 3 human insulin producers... Ugh!

Electronic gaming can be a social activity where participants share game knowledge and collective scores are increased. You see this a lot in console gaming, just by its nature.

I'm interested in the phenomenon from an IT perspective - how people share technical knowledge socially that increases collective understanding. My interest has to with adapting workflows in health care organizations to the use of electronic medical records and integrating physician decision system software. With physicians this is important because physician culture can be resistant to adoption of technology.

A lot of collective knowledge about the use of iDevices is shared socially as well. This is something fairly well known with Apple.

Anyway, Internet forum participation is a social interaction. Take the shared information increasing collective knowledge model and you've got gamers scoring higher.

You could probably get some quantifiable information here with a simple survey of forum users. Who posts regularly, how long they've been involved, what level were they when they started and what level are they now. Since Game Center tracks gifts you could also document how many frogs people gifted and how many friends that they met here.

For the information to be really useful you'd have to compare participant data from here with data from other players and find out if they play socially and how large their PF circles are.

    There ya go : )

    Where in the World? Winner

The responses to this Where in the World? contest are:

    canadianHaruka - Moonraker?
canadianharuka the movie title is correct, where did the movie scene take place?

RaelynHC666 - Moonraker the scenes from Rio?

    malbarnes - Movie: Moonraker
    City: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

    Ella - Moonraker amazon rainforest

Mamafrog - My guess is 007 Never Say Never

Lermshell - James Bond 007. Gold Finger... Gotta start somewhere! Lol
Oh and it was filmed mainly in Florida.

The correct movie title is "Moonraker" and the scene takes place in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. The winner is RaelynHC666!!

Raelyn name your frogs and let me know if you would like the 32 frog prize option or the Color Wheel prize option? Congratulations! :D

I have to thank everyone on the forum for indulging me while trying out these contests. My real world schedule can limit my participation and I'm not ready to give up the game, or the forum, just yet. I look forward to seeing some more contests, it's an additional way to offer and receive frogs to/from other players! :)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------
Representation of frogs used in the set:

Black Albeo Foramen - James Bond movie intro
White Picea Nodare - James Bond
Beige Albeo Volta - the movie character "Jaws"
Azure Bruna Pyramis - Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio
White Picea Nebula - reference to the Moon hoping it would help guess the movie
Yellow Muscus Infinitas and Blue Caelus Lunaris - Colors of the Brazilian flag

Thanks to dlstar and awboj for their posts about James Bond which gave me the idea for this contest while on a recent trip to Brazil. :)

Wow you guys are really clever, both setting the challenge and the guesses :), and the sets are really visually appealing too!

I'm on Hennae now so expect gifts of those, and meantime visit my habs, they are very pretty frogs.

    Almost

    Congrats to RaelynHC666.

Just a few minutes late... If I had only known how to spell "Rio de Janeiro" without looking it up. Oh well! I would have had to split the prize with canadianHaruka because I only recognized the colors of the Brazilian flag.

It is fun to participate, keep it going javaRich. Although this is the closest I'll ever come.

...and what constitutes a "color wheel"?

While I'm at it, thanks for the recent frog gifts from: Nirtew, AndiNZ, SnappyMcfrog, XXXBR, Tryclyde, canadianharuka, dean288367, Domenic15 and javaRich. Wow, it has been a while since my last thanks, so that means there have been multiple gifts from each of you!

    Take care
    Mal.

I hadn't even seen the second part of the question until others started answering it, which is why mine was missing that. XD

    Somewhere else
Sounds like a worthwhile endeavor. You're forgiven. :)

Much of the info you could get from the leaderboard while does a great job of tracking what it tracks. But you'd have to have info you couldn't get from the leaderboard, as you said: size of PF friend circles, length of play in years & hours/day, amount of money (if any) spent on potions & stamps, number of posts to THIS thread, ultimate goal of player, & historical perspective (who's come & gone vs. who pops in from time to time vs. who's come to stay), etc. Frankly, the historical perspective part would take reading all 2,700+ posts, a daunting task.

My head is swimming. Thanks for being someone who can juggle & arrange data to form meaningful patterns. I clearly can't!

p.s.: Thanks to Snappy for the Signum & Martin for the Hennae.
