Hi malbarnes, I took a look at your Emblemas and it looks like you have all of the primary and secondary (pattern) colors covered to make up an Emblema color wheel! It is expensive to breed Emblema/Emblema so can you breed just enough Emblema to fill in the FroggyDex and make the slow maturity process worth the wait?

If you've never used a color wheel before it's worth a try to see how it works and how it fits in with what you want to accomplish in Pocket Frogs. The first color palette I made was with Velatus, I liked the look of the color gradients and was impressed with having all of the colors needed to complete Velatus in the FroggyDex contained in 3 habitats.

Planeta is ideal for the traveler, thank you :). And thanks for the Blue Palma!

The trip to the dentist..no fun, I hope you get through it quickly!

    Whoo!

While breeding yellow cluniculas, I just reached 10% in the Froggydex, yay!

Dexing seems to suit my OCD (or makes it worse, depending on how you look at it. XD) In doing the last few sets of the week, however, I've realized I don't have the patience to let them get out of the inbox and then to grow up, so I end up spending more in potions and stamps than I win by completing the set. I might take a break on the sets for a while - still deciding.

Dom, You have my sympathies over the loss of your friend. I had one of my Grandfathers pass away from cancer while I was in high school.

    Ramblin'

2 hours with the dentist and there is more to come! 2 crowns removed (each 25 years old) because decay had gotten underneath. Only 1 tooth can be saved. I've always had dental problems - soft teeth combined with a chocolate addiction - plus I clench my teeth while asleep (a couple of cracked teeth attest to that). A lot more expensive than EMBLEMAs!! But on to happier topics...

I had collected several white EMBLEMAs while racing, so I used my new color wheel to complete the whites. So my question is should I get rid of the white frog from my color wheel? I happen to have the same pattern (secondary) color on another frog.

My ultimate goal is to complete the Blues in all breeds, but I'm going to allow myself a diversion while I complete the EMBLEMAs. Then back to the blues (your mailbox probably needs a rest!).

    Thanks for the pointers.

VICIS, VICIS, VICIS (my apologies to Caesar). Thanks to dean288367 for the wide variety. I might be almost halfway to another color wheel!

Also thanks to SnappyMcfrog and javaRich for recent gifts.

Thanks to Domenic15's generosity, I'm back in the pond. I have one more Road Signs starter set to share. Just send a friend request.

And lastly, triggered by Domenic15's reference to the Big East... I'm a fan of college basketball, but I am confused/upset by all the recent conference changes. I think it is greed behind creating 'super' football conferences that is primarily responsible for the current upheaval. I know there have been changes in the past, but I hate to see so many traditional rivalries and regional ties being discarded. I relinquish the soapbox.

Whoa! Teeth to college sports on the frog forum. This is worst than mere ramblings. Enjoy your weekend everyone, and...

    Take care.

@ Adp - thanks for info about BoardReader. Love that it charts things but wish it assimilated more than a year's worth of data.

@ java & frogs (AKA Ella) for running contests. Those are always fun & manage to pull part-time lurkers out of lurkitude. BTW, frogsElla (sounds like a Japanese monster), I eventually shorten names so what do you prefer?

@ Dom & those who offer/regift sets here, major thanks. Thanks to generosity of spirit wherever it's found, however it manifests itself.

@ Dom I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a best friend can be akin to losing a close family member. It creates a hole that no simple words from a well-meaning friend can fill.

p.s.: Thanks so much for the froggy gifts to Martin for the Hennae, XXX for the Fractus, Raelyn for the Infinitus, Maholah for the Fortuno, Snappy for the Infinitus & Shelbus, Dom for the Road Signs Starter Set, & BlueWater27 (AKA BW27) --she's baaaaack(!) for the 2 Templum.

p.p.s.: I may be slow, but I'm steady. I will have a complete Road Signs Set ready to gift tonight. Given her level 22 status & in honor of her return, I'll be sending it to BW27. Hope I'm not bypassing some needy soul in the forum but BW27 was an active member up until a couple of months ago (cf. BoardReader;) )

First thesis draft off to my advisor this morning and I'm looking forward to an evening spent with good friends and 53 lbs of roasted whole pig. It's also a seriously spring-like day here in Washington DC which improves everyone's mood.

JavaRich's talk about the color wheel method makes me curious as to the methods people use to index.

So, how do you all go about dexing?

I have a bunch of anuras, (red tingo, tangelo carota, yellow aurum, etc) and when I want to start breeding, I go buy one of breed I want in the first of the colour series (from whichever I already have in my dex, like maroon, red, orange, etc) and breed that one until I have all the maroons (or whichever I started with) then sell it and go buy the next one down and do it all over again. It goes faster when I can leave a bunch of habitats ready because I can weed out the eggs of the wrong value and move the others from the nursery right away, and move onto the next colour. Sorry if that is clear as mud.

    Congrats ADP

Awesome that your draft is done! Here on the other side of the world, I'm about four weeks away from submission (PhD, on poetry and psychoanalysis). Imagine how much time we'll have for PF soon : )

I have yet to begin dexing - I just sometimes go by colours I like, or try and have one of each frog. I do have a colour wheel of anuras though, that I use for cheap breeding. I should start with those...

    Congrats again,
    Josh

Congrats on the thesis! I chose math because it didn't require much writing ( except when I tried to bluff my way through proofs).

I primarily dex Blues. I keep 15 blue Anuras that I use to breed blues. Whenever I got a new breed, I would breed the blue-albeo first and leave it in a hab. Now that I have all 100 breeds, I don't keep the blue-albeo Anura anymore. I dex the blues in increasing level sequence. Once a breed has been 'blued', I catalogue the blue-albeo and let it go. But alas, the catalog only holds 50 frogs. I am currently keeping the highest level (most expensive) frogs in habitats and the lowest level (cheapest) are left to be repurchased from the dex. Request frogs and weekly sets are usually started from my blue-albeo, so I get a fair number of blues that way. I have Dexed 2 breeds completely because racing gave me a high percentage of those breeds (Veru and Magus). The situation is being repeated for Emblema and Fortuno. And following the tips presented earlier, I'm going to try the color wheel approach to finish those 2 breeds.

Now you understand why I had to avoid subjects that required lots of writing!

Why Blue-Albeo? School colors! And once I had habitats full of these, it seemed only logical to finish all the blues.

More info than you ever wanted...

    Take care.
    Mal
