I think I may have been too eager to answer your question, not realizing it was actually 2 questions. My answer was in regards to the "starter set" part of your query. I mistakenly applied "breeding set" to that same description. Maybe, I didn't address your question at all. I'll step aside now and let those way more knowledgeable step in. Sorry.

Well, you helped me understand what the starter set means when people talk about weekly sets ^.^

A breeding set is generally a colour wheel of your desired frog breed - so enough frogs to breed every primary and secondary colour. It's 23 frogs if you're doing all the primary colours, and 16 if you're dexing by colour and only need the secondary colours. I'll let someone on a keyboard explain it better :)

If people are forced to buy a new iDevice every few years when theirs is working just fine, thank you, simply to use an app or play a game, maybe there will be some dropouts. OTOH, the younger (than me, anyway) generation is much more used to all things disposable.

Hoping against hope that NB will be savvy enough this time NOT to eliminate many of their players because of Apple's iOS software update. BTW, from what I hear from early reports of iOS 7, there's much grumbling about the grey on white color contrast, thin fonts, & brightly colored icons more suited to appeal to slightly post-pubescent girls; what doesn’t insult the eye, strains it. I will be able to update but doubt I’ll choose to voluntarily do so.

Subgroups, great idea for people of similar level & time to devote to the game. I'm guessing there are subgroups beside yours in this forum. As a dyed-in-the-wool non-'dexer, I never sought out a group, moved to form one, nor received an engraved invitation to even be an honorary member.

As for posts going "unnoticed" & the whole anonymous thing, I beg to differ. When active traders who post on a regular or semi-regular basis magically fade away, I miss them. Sometimes, when I check the Leaderboard & find they haven't gifted since, oh, say April, I figure they've moved on. If they seem to still be playing, I'm just mystified.

As for chit-chat, no doubt just annoying static to the focused trader, I believe it’s part of the glue which holds us all together. There needs to be a core group to keep any forum going even if the core subtly shifts to others as time goes on. My concern is that without this dedicated core, the center cannot hold.

Think it can't? Check out the Tiny Tower thread on this forum.

    Superb, Andi! :)

Hmmm, Martin, and you doubt if people care about your posts or would miss them if they vanished into thin cyberspace?

C'mon, don't be sorry, Mal. You've explained in crystal-clear terms what different types of sets are. Since NO ONE is going to read back through thousands of messages to ferret out the answer to their question, important info like this is always valuable whether or not it directly answers the question. Someone always benefits.

p.s.: Thanks to Snappy for the Infinitas & Nebula, Ella for the Figularis, Dom for the Scutulata, Andi for the Tessera & Volta, Quo for the Dimidius, & meplie for the Coclearis &, my morning surprise, the Fathers’ Day Starter Set, which, thanks to Mal, we all understand. ;)

p.p.s.: And what about Naomi? (Can someone, anyone, get this joke??)

Terraluvsyu, yes Geminus is a "potion/promo" frog breed. You can find the in the frogmart for 25 potions, or receive them as a gift from someone who has one. They can't be found in the pond nor won through racing.

JoshDubrau, Looks like I got my wish for this week's set
Don't have any k1ds. I will, however give my Dad a Father's Day card this year. :) It will be on Sunday June 16th here in the US.

Thanks to Maholah for a Pistrix,
    Quossum for two Favus,
ADP for a Favus and a Tessera,
    Sneeb for a Templum,
    Moe416 for a Pluma
    Frogparent0 for a Sagitta,
    BelleStarz for two Spinae

and anyone else who sent gifts recently.

    G00d evening to all. :)

Dammit .. I'm only coming up with 'Campbell'. Not doing anything for me sorry :(.

As for everything else you said - too hard to subgroup into quotes - yeah I think at the end of the day we probably think too much about it as is our nature. Subgroups run the risk of dying. Perhaps there would be potential in A PF forum with sub-forums of general chat, trading, etc. but then there would be too many threads to check :).

As for iOS 7, yeah nice to see Apple copying Windows Phone 8 .. and as for disposable society, yeah well I'm now thinking of getting one of the new no-back-camera iPod Touches for PF and then I'm much more free from having to stick with iPhone - iOS 7 doesn't look that appealing thus far. Sticking with PF is much more important!

    Thanks, I needed that!

Heard of and used a color wheel, but didn't initially equate that to a breeding set (obviously).

Let me be the first (or at least early) to wish all the Dads a HAPPY FATHERS DAY. I wonder if Hallmark sells as many cards this month as last? Probably not.

    Take care.

Hi Dom love a starter, if you have any spare.

Still in the thick of moving, the builders keep stuffing up so our move date gets further away. Any ways am still here, still gifting just not much time to keep up with the thread. Hopefully back in a few weeks. Pf's has been my stress reliever at the moment.
