Hi, I grabbed REXLE4EN9ATA. Will post impressions in a bit. Thanks! [edit] Wow, these are tough. On the very first puzzle, it wasn't clear what the red areas in the various views represented. I figured it out soon enough, but assuming I didn't miss it in the tutorial, it might be worth adding. But then the second and third provided their own challenges. And these are the beginner puzzles? I consider myself pretty strong spatially, but I'm not sure I'm going to be up for anything but the beginner ones. I'll keep trying tho.
I understand the concept, like the idea, presentation is great, I'm just finding it incredibly difficult to place the cubes where I want to in 3D space. Unless there's something I'm missing, the ability to fully rotate the playing area makes it virtually impossible to pick a particular square to 'build' on.
If I want to place a 'floating' cube I rotate the screen so I can select the space I want the cube to go in but it places the cube in the space on the floor relative to where I place my finger. As it stands it's actually easier to fill the playing area with cubes and then try to remove the ones you don't need as the unwanted cubes act as a reference.
Do you discovered the grid already? If you touch and hold a tile on the bounds of the playing area a grid will appear. While pressing you can place a floating cube by moving your finger over the grid.
Yeah, I've got my head round the grid now. You have to place your block in the floor position and then move it up the grid to where you want it. I think this needs to be demonstrated in the tutorial as it's not particularly intuitive and I think a few people would have become frustrated before working it out. I've 3 starred the first 8 levels so I am managing it, it will be interesting to see what others think.
RX9XTL6F3EMJ thank you. I am feeling a little stupid right now because I don't really get it. (Sorry) Sigh...... That being said.... How about some more thorough instructions or directions? Thank you.
It's a nice concept no doubt and the controls, while fiddly, do the job for the most part. The problem is that it's a trivial puzzle. There's a very simple algorithm that solves all the puzzles; I skipped to the advanced levels and three starred them all in less than an hour. Once the player discovers the way to solve the levels it just doesn't hold any interest anymore. Some of the minimum cube values are incorrect too; I got the star for reaching the number indicated but there were more cubes that I could have erased in some of the levels.
I am really interested in that algorithm hope its not just brute force because the score is calculated based on considered moves. Can you PM me an outline of your approach to solve a level?
Like the four-minute mile, once TheGreatEscaper stated that an algorithm could be applied, I had to give it a go. And while I probably took longer, I managed to tear through all of the advanced puzzles with 3 stars in a single sitting. I also ended up with a number of instances where I used fewer cubes than allocated. In the end, the game ended up feeling like Spoiler a 3D Picross - not necessarily a bad thing . If you want me to PM you my particular approach taishou, I'd be happy to.
