It would be in the expansion pack. She's definitely a babe though. Yes there is bow action, and different types of arrows. One of the arrows that you get in the game is tons of fun!
What is an action/rpg? This game? Yeah. Seems like. Legend of Zelda? No...just no. They're action/adventure. Action/adventure and action/RPG are somewhat similar on the surface, but not the same. It's the gameplay system focus of the latter that makes it different from the former. ... Unless you meant that naked guy is an action/RPG, in which case I have no idea what that means....
You don't see that many female leads in video games. Shame that. I mean...Metroid is one of my favorite series ever, and Beyond Good and Evil was probably one of the top games last gen. Some will point to the consumer base for games being male dominated, but I just don't get that. A female lead never stopped any of us from loving the Aliens movies...well...at least the first two.
I do not get why people do not consider it an action RPG, action RPG's are not limited to that of Oblivion and Diablo. Action RPG's are games that take place in real-time and have you take the role of someone. RPG stands for role-playing game, and in Zelda you take the role of Link. Do not say that Zelda is not an RPG or a action RPG for that matter, cause it is a role-playing game. (take up the role of link, most adventure games can actually be classified as RPG's, the leveling up system is what i would consider a JRPG thing. I call RPG's with leveling up systems JRPG's or WRPG's) Back to the game, my suggestion for female still stands, I suggested a female character on like the fourth page, I would love to see the character Josh posted, in this game. It would just be great to choose between male and female, because I'm pretty sure we have got a lot of gamers like me. Being a chick wreaking havoc and chaos is so much cooler than a guy wreaking havoc.
It seems a little... Too much dark colors to describe it :O... I think it needs a little more action packed to tell you that WOW!! Is this really a 3D RPG?!
I LOVE Metroid But I like the GBA version more.. (Metroid: Zero Mission) Is there any Easteregg in Ravensword?
You're right. They also include games like Star Ocean and Kingdom Hearts. *sighs RPG may stand for "role playing game", but the RPG genre is not simply defined by the fact that you "play a role". In every game you play a role. You play a role in Super Mario games (Mario). You play a role in Metroid (Samus). You play a role in DoodleJump (that little doodle character). That doesn't make those games RPGs in terms of the game genre classification. What makes an RPG in video games is character customization and/or creation and it's handling via statistical upgrades, either user assigned or assigned at random. That's what WRPGs and JRPGs and RPGs as a genre as a whole share in common. LoZ does not have statistical based upgrades at all, neither user or randomly assigned. There is no real character creation or customization. Don't bring up heart capsule increases, as a game like Metroid and others have similar things and they are not RPGs in any way whatsoever. What LoZ does have, however, is a dual focus of real time direct action gameplay merged with one of the key elements of the adventure game genre: exploration. Hence, action/adventure. Again, by that very narrow, and quite frankly wrong definition of the RPG genre you are espousing EVERY game is an RPG as in EVERY game one plays the role of player/character. But that's not how genres are classified in the video game medium. RPGs have certain gameplay tropes that help classify them as RPGs (the statistical based upgrade system which furthers character customization and/or creation). Adventure games are not simply games that put you "on an adventure" and no adventure game fan would call them RPGs at all (games like Myst, Day of the Tentacle, and various LucasArts and Sierra adventure games are most certainly NOT RPGs). The focus of adventure games is investigation, which includes but is not limited to a heavy focus on exploring environments, solving logic and/or environmental puzzles, etc.
Anyway...is that female character gonna be a playable character? Or another female character? I don't think having that option would be a bad idea, actually. Might serve to bring more female gamers into the action as well. Never a bad idea to expand the base of potential consumers, especially in this completely craptastic economy.
I think spiffy just downright owns this argument, although I get where fenrir is coming from. I wouldn't call LoZ an RPG either. I would say, it's one of the all time best games ever and if this game combines the action/rpg element from Oblivion with the action/adventure element of Zelda then we all get to win. We all win! Yeah!!! T.O.
Well he's wrong with saying that in every game you take a role, but I'll just shut up because you still take a role in about 99,9% of games. I can stop being a smartass now.
AHH I see, I still cant shake why I think of it as an action RPG, I say games like God of War are action/adventure games, because its more linear than it is open... I think of Zelda as not as linear as any action/adventure game, i guess thats why I classify it that way, same with Assassins Creed. I just cannot shake the depth of how much you get into playing the character, thinking you are the character. While playing God of War or Tomb Raider, it just feels bland. But i guess its just the way Nintendo makes there games, heck i still say Metroid is a Action RPG(dont ask). But i see your point and it is taken well, I shall now classify it as an Adventure RPG game xD
The picture of that man is deeply disturbing. Please, somebody, post a picture of Mario or something!
Must have now! release it already!!11!! Ever since I heard about this game on TA I've been counting down the hours to it's release. I'm a huge Oblivion fan and if it's even a 100th as good as that game I'm going to be happy. There's just something about being able to play this sort of game anywhere that's awesome. I wonder what sort of rare loot (if any) exists in the game. That's one of the funnest things about RPGS is finding and using rare loot.
