Just went to the website and saw the "works best with iPhone 3GS" picture. Sounds like it doesn't bode well for other models.

As the developer has posted earlier, you have the option to reduce the eye candy to get a better framerate. I wouldn't be surprised if the video was shot with all the bells and whistles. In any event, Oblivion wasn't known for it's silky-smooth frame rate -- this is not the kind of twitchy game that requires it.

You know you are talking about a game on a cell phone right? I don't disagree with what you said but still, its a cell phone game. We've come a lonnnnggg way since the days I was playing Atari football on a 12" black and white TV :D

Its definitely a statement of quality when it comes to framerates. And yeah, thanks for reminding me about that feature to change some of the graphical settings, much like WoW. That is something I think a lot of iPhone games should allow.

Look at MC:S. Amazing graphics and details, but pretty excellent framerate. Same goes for Blades of Fury. So why not Ravensword?

I'm not saying this is going to be a bad game, and I can't truly judge it until I get to play it myself. This is all observations from the video.

I think the issue ultimately is the level of interaction with the environment. MC:S is relatively simple -- you take cover, shoot at things, and pick up ammo. BoF is even simpler, with backgrounds existing pretty much as (very cool) decoration. From what we've seen so far, it looks like Ravensword will have much more interactivity (again, notice that swinging sign), which will definitely affect frame rate. In a game like this, though, a lower (but still playable) frame rate is a small price to pay for a highly immersive world.

Looks like they should have went with that publisher.

It looks better than The Quest, at least the cinematic angles in the beginning. Then the actual gameplay sets in...

I don't think I understand your comment, arta. I have nothing against the Quest, but this looks like it's a couple generations ahead, graphics wise -- especially in the gameplay. Also, what does having a publisher have to do with anything?

The graphics look freeking amazing. Cmon the iphone is not a $6000 PC with a Geforce 99999999999 in it. This game looks beautiful and I can't wait to buy it.

The still graphics are great, but framerate plays a large role in graphics/presentation.

If it can get no lower than the mid 20s on the 3g that would be great.

Another thing is that many games released before the 3gs didn't see a HUGE increase on the 3gs because they weren't optimized for the hardware. If this game focused on the new capabilities we could see a huge huge framerate increase into the 40s (just guessing here) possibly.

This game looks great but after watching the trailer I get a bad feeling the movement/looking is gonna be sloppy and hard to control.

It's not the graphics that are a problem, it's the hilarious animations. One minute in the staged cinematics your hero is triumphantly leaping over rocks in a single bound, but in actual gameplay? Good gracious, he runs like a crippled Lego man on his way to the toilet, and the enemies attacking made me laugh out loud, all to a swelling score.

There's a difference between limited animation, like the friendly marine in Nova or other games that you recognise don't look the best but still are acceptable. Then there's the hilariously awful animation seen here. And in a dead serious epic such as this, it's like replacing Gollum in Lord of the Rings with the puppet of Kermit the Frog or Team America and expecting the audience not to be distracted for the next 10 hours.

I honestly don't find the animations all that terrible. I mean, I don't think that just a few clunky movements are enough to ruin the experience that I have come to expect this game to deliver based on the trailer and screenshots. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind had some positively atrocious animations on the original Xbox, but I didn't feel as though that fault was significant enough to become the deciding factor in purchasing the game when there are so many more gameplay elements that factor into the experience. It could be just me, but a few choppy animations aren't going to make me think twice about purchasing this title the moment it comes out.:)
