Maybe you should talk to that BioReplicants devs about his animation engine, BioReplicants. Looks awesome. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=26263&page=4
wouldn't there have to be hundreds of bugs fixed AGAIN if you would use another engine? I don't know anything about this, but I'm just wondering..
That's the kind of asinine advice that kept Duke Nukem Forever in development hell for over a decade. There's always better technology just over the horizon. Doesn't mean it's wise to chuck months of work to go after it.
Duke Nukem had a lot more problems going on with it that caused the delays, namely mismanagement. Besides, the reason I recommended this is that it would be a cool improvement to an area which sucks right now. Josh doesn't lose anything by talking to that other dev, and I'm sure he's a big enough boy to determine whether he can afford it now or look into it in the future. And did you seriously invoke Duke Nukem to bolster your argument w.r.t. delays? That like using an extreme like Hitler in a debate, man. Seriously, don't ruin this thread.
Duke Nukem went through three different game engines -- each change delayed the project for years. Mismanagement? Absolutely. Pursuing the "next best thing" instead of writting shippable software is clearly a form of mismanagement. You are not a dumb person, arta. You know that Cresent Moon is not going to start implementing a new animation engine four weeks before shipping. I can't think of another reason to offer such advice than to take a group of very decent developers down a peg. If anything is bringing down the thread is that kind of attitude. As to the notion that bringing up DNF is akin to bringing up Hitler: Really?
This thread has nothing to do with duke nukem at all it's a terrible game anyway so I don't know why you waste bandwith talking about it
Apologies -- I was trying to make a point about the value of shipping a great but imperfect game, apropos the complaints about character animation in Ravensword. To be precise, I was refering to the likely-never-shipping Duke-Nukem-Forever and not the iPhone port of the original DN 3D. In any event, I'm kind of in the middle of a very annoying asthma attack and pissier than usual. Apologies, arta -- I was too harsh earlier.
Really looking forward to this one anyway, been following for awhile.. I'd love to be able to eventually have a whole page full of great RPGs
Im just waiting to hear the character customization... did you guys take that into account, since the game isnt being submitted til oct. 15 maybe you guys can add the option to choose between male and female. just replace all instances that refer o the character with 'adventurer' eh? I dont know but thats what makes me happy in a game is being able to customize my character, and being able to use magic. But you guys already stated that the magic wont be coming until an expansion comes out. still happily waiting for this game... and GTA
hi everyone... I know, this is the iPhone game section still I want to ask that can I play this game also on another mobile ?
Well, it will be on iPod Touches too, but I think it will not be released for other platforms, at least not yet.
Since I like questions, is there going to be achievements? I mean, you can't go wrong with achievements, everybody loves them! I'm no programmer but I would think this is something easy to implement. Maybe something like a collection/trophy page in the menu , I think all games should have achievements, they extend your playtime and give you something to do once you finish the game. I know a lot of things have been requested in this thread, but I think this would be one of the easiest thing to implement considering how much more value it adds to the game. Thanks.
@Extol How about, "Almost everybody" love achievements? It's very hard for me to understand how someone couldn't like achievements, considering that my Xbox360 gamerscore is over 20,000. It would be nice if Apple had a similar official gamerscore system, something like what Gameloft live is doing. I suppose you can just ignore that 2-second pop-up that tells you you got an achievement, I'm pretty confident to say that there's a lot more people wanting achievements than not. I respect your opinion, may I ask you what is it you don't like about them?
IDk call me old school or what ever you like. When i first got my X360 and saw the achievement system i thought "this is kind of cool". One of my friends was renting games from gamefly that had easy achievements to get his gamer score up higher to make him look like a good player. Even in WOW when achievements came out for it. i had people i raid with going on and on about there achievement score. In wow who cares? you cant raid right then i do not care if your achievement score is 1000 more then mine! Achievements don't really bug me. What bugs me is people who use them a Epenis ruler.
Personally I really do not care if a game has achivements or not. I do have an XBOX360, with lots of RPGs...but I care only to enjoy the story and finish the game, like a book. I never watched which was my score or my achivements, or compared it to others. Guess I'm old, but I play RPGs for the stories, not for the score.
Indeed the way some of these achievements are make it pointless. You shouldn't get an achievement for finishing each level it goes without saying you'll do that. They need to make achievements an actual chore to get though that wouldn't stop the epenis competition... speaking of which I can say I have more posts than you lol
