Yes, it's free and it sounds like you've found the right one The only bad thing with the application is that it makes you wanna buy a lot of games (Sorry for OT)
Um ... I looked and looked, behind the drapes, in the toy box, under the cat, but I can't seem to find where in this definition the quantifying numbers are. Are they under the words? Because they won't come off my screen no matter how hard I pick at them. To wit: quan·ti·fy Pronunciation: \-ˌfī\ Function: transitive verb Inflected Form(s): quan·ti·fied; quan·ti·fy·ing Etymology: Medieval Latin quantificare, from Latin quantus how much Date: circa 1840 1 a (1) : to limit by a quantifier (2) : to bind by prefixing a quantifier b : to make explicit the logical quantity of 2 : to determine, express, or measure the quantity of — quan·ti·fi·able \ˌkwän-tə-ˈfī-ə-bəl\ adjective
Isn't that what the 'soon' in Pixelbite's post did? It determined (or expressed) the time in which Deliverace would be released by using the the word 'soon', thus the word 'soon' was quantified by Pixelbite in their use of it. Still no news from Pixelbite I presume?
"soon" was already quantified by Pixelbite as "early 2010". would you like to get into a pissing contest over the semantics of "early 2010"? Because I assure you, you will lose...
To quantify is to give a specific quantity of -- hard numbers. Exact dates. I will certainly grant that "early 2010" has come and gone, but my point is that "soon" is a comparative, and therefore meaningless concept without a frame of reference, so whining that "soon" isn't soon enough is silly.
Agreed. The point is that a roundabout date was given and even by a loose estimate it has come and gone. The developer is certainly free to release it whenever they wish and I have no complaints about that. All we are asking is for an update. Otherwise anyone can come on the boards, make up a game, say it will be "soon" and leave. Nothing ever coming of it seeing it was actual vaporware. One cant help but feel "played" The longer this goes the more it seems it was one big joke. The unfortunate part is this looks like a really good game and we are all very excited to hand over our money for the right to play it. But part of me is beginning to hold a grudge against the developer for being lied to... Where is the trust? Its a free country and everyone has the right to complain and give negative feedback if we wish just as you are allowed to complain that we are complaining
Shut the f*** up!! The problem with this thread are only some users here! One started it in confronting the dev about misinforming. Some users responded to it and now we have the situation. The aggresive tone of some folks here simply made it impossible to react proberly for the dev. The whole atmosphere is turned bad by some users here and the dev simply can't continue to post proberly here. The fault is to the users, there you have it..
This is kind of my broader point though: Nobody lied. Lying is an intentional fabrication intended to mislead, and it's ridiculous to infer that they deliberately sabotaged the PR for their own game. They announced a general time frame in which they expected to have the game released and they missed it. We don't know why, but it's equally absurd to think it's because of something trivial. They obviously want to sell this game and make money, so if something is holding it back, you can be pretty sure there's a good reason for it. I think most people here are sensible enough to know that though, and what's being complained about is the lack of contact, which I shall so eloquently* respond to after the quote below: Why care about a user who seems to think the developer owes him something? * And by that I mean "snarkily"
What's ironic here, especially with all the E3 and Nintendo/Sony/Microsoft coverage, is that with every other platform we would have zero information about the game beyond what is carefully dolled out by a major corporate marketing department. "Are you excited about all those 3Ds games we announced? You want to know when they're coming? Too bad -- it's all TBA." Good luck trying to reach a developer to give you updated info -- those folks don't talk anybody except reporters. It's too bad that we don't have more information about Reckless Racing right now. We can make some informed guesses as to what's going on (I'm almost positive that the delay is due to the difficulties of doing QA on the multitude of Android devices), but it would be great to hear something more concrete. Nevertheless, to believe that someone is entitled to have up-to-the-minute information is ludicrous.
This thread should be closed down because right now there is no developer input and just constant flaming, to many people are going by the saying."Fight fire with fire." The game looks great but this thread is a wreck. There's my two cents. Someone is probably gonna flame me on this too.
I heard that it uses grid computing to get the performance up to par. The more iPhones you link up to the app the faster the cars can go. The developers told me that. I was also told that the app will come with (shipped separately and part of the app price) a GPU card that plugs into the dock connector to expand the capabilities of the on board GPU to help make use of the extra grid CPU power. (Shhhh... trying to get the developers to respond by stating false claims... lets see if it works ).
yeah it's a bit tedious checking this thread just to see someone else complain about a GAME...this is not life and death if a game does not arrive on time...Yes it is annoying if you were expecting it out now...but it's a GAME!!! not a heart transplant...
Agree with the flaming. Don't agree with the dev input. It's not their job. They're not obligated to serve our asses with information ever. It would be a plus, but no reason to close down a thread.
It's a forum so people should be free to voice their opinions regardless of whether or not they agree with your own. What is ironic is that the people that are complaining about the complainers are just doing the same thing, if you only want to read posts relating to hard facts about the game then don't post yourself. With my two cents out of the way all I'll ask is is it really that difficult for somebody from Pixelbite to come online and just post a simple "Sorry for the delay chaps, it has taken longer than expected to get the quality we want and at present this is where we are at with Reckless Racing...", surely not that difficult and would go quite some way to giving Pixelbite a good rep...
