I don't think there's been any recent news, but you could always check the SE DLG Facebook page for updates.
Maybe it's already been asked, but will they fix the exploit that lets you cast magic for 9.999 damage a shot? And all the other bugs that plagued the original release?
I asked a Square Enix guy at PAX about it, he didn't have any information on it but said it was definitely coming. I'm stoked for it!
It's either vaporware or the worst marketing I've ever seen. No news at all? Updates? Release date? Do they eventually want to make money on this game?
Because, surprisingly, there is a massive audience of Square lovers, and iPhone agmers in general who know about Square RPGs, and especially Secret of Mana and will buy it without having to inform impatient forum fanboys of its status every 2 minutes.
I have a sneaking suspicion there won't be multiplayer in the game. Unfortunately it's not like other co-op games in that you both start at the same time, you have to play a little bit before you can even get the second or third player. And even if they just added the functionality to just join a friends game over Bluetooth or Wifi, wouldn't there be arguments over whose game you joined? I love this game but I'd hate to play for hours with my friends as the Sprite, just to load it up when they're not playing and go through it all solo. Square are a company that want things to run incredibly smooth, or not at all. To me it seems to combat this they are going to have to do a major redevelopment of the beginning of the game which is obviously going to divide opinion, but I think could be beneficial...and at least if they did that they might spice up the boredom of everything once you get Flammie.... And to be honest, the time they're taking probably points to a bit of redeveloping, if it was a straight port, surely they could knock out an iOS emulator for it in a matter of weeks
TBH i never thought there would be any multiplayer anyway.. SE hasnt intergrated any multiplayer in to any games.. imagine Chaos rings multiplayer Oooo xD OH and btw, i liked playing as the sprite! give it a whip & water magic = ownage!
Chaos Rings uses their Final Fantasy TBS RPG engine though, Secret of Mana is built as a multiplayer game. It's good to see someone ready to take on for the team though, now all we need is a load of people okay with being the girl
There won't be multiplayer because the game will probably be cancelled. Otherwise, we would have had an update by now.
I hope they come out with this soon! Multiplayer or not! I've REALLY been looking forward to this one ever since I saw the trailer at E3
