It's comments like this that need to be removed. You have no fact to base that on. The game isn't cancelled until they announce it. Mirror's Edge for iPhone is a prime example of this type of prolonged release time. Let's bump this thread when we have something REAL to add or something constructive instead of idiotic negative thinking comments. Not to be harsh, but it is what it is.
I agree, every time I see this tread bumped I always hope that its good news. Usually it turns out to be a stupid comment like the one you quoted
It's the same guy that loves saying vaporware for every single game that doesn't come out immediately after it's been announced. I don't think he knows the meaning of the word. Just ignore him.
Mirror's Edge is a much more complex game than a port such as this. This should've been out by now. If this game isnt cancelled its at least evidence that its been put on the back burner and will not be out for a long, long time. It's not negative, it's realistic.
You're not being realistic, since you don't have any actual knowledge as a basis for your speculation. No release date was announced for this game at E3, so we have no idea of when it was supposed to fit in SE's schedule. Real publishers don't just rush things out when they're finished: they put together a release calendar that takes into account marketing, competition, seasonal variations, etc. As an example, Microsoft just delayed Gears of War 3 by 6 months, even though the game was on schedule (as in the development was on track) to release in the Spring; it was completely a market decision, based on expectations for the holiday season. As to the complexity of this port, again, you have no actual knowledge. Previous ports of Secrets of Mana had not involved any improvement in graphic resolution or interface, unlike FF1 and FF2. That may work for the Wii, but as we've seen from Sega's Genesis ports, it comes across as extremely lazy on the iPhone. We don't know how SE is approaching this release, or even if it's being done by the same team that's still working on FFT. To be so negative without any actual knowledge is not realism -- it's being a crank.
I just saw this http://www.appbank.net/2010/10/27/iphone-news/182764.php There's a Gameplay footage of this game running on the iPhone but apparently the video is no longer available on Youtube...
This could be huge with those despicable nostalgia gamers. *lost in nostalgia, Ayjona dreams back to the early days of the SNES, of running through the water palace in search of orbs and justice*
Awesome find, is the video uploaded anywhere else? Also Are those graphics updated...or just squashed?
Wow, just...wow. The graphics look fantastic, the controls look awesome, this video has really excited me. The location of all the characters seemed confusing; they are at where the main character starts, and this is inaccessible to the other two for plot reasons, outside of a glitch. My first thought was additional story lines or content, then when they couldn't get through the grass at the end, I thought they were trying to highlight the multi-player and that the main character was going to come over and cut them out, strange that they lost their weapons though.
They seem to be saying something about FFT too in this link? Could somebody tell us what it is, please?
I don't read Japanese (and Babelfish doesn't seem to either) but it did translate the blurb about FFT as this: "After, it had showing also Final Fantasy Tactics. Still, development midway, but it operates with iPhone it is funny! The kind of device which becomes the [tsu] [te] being included, now it does, the seed" That tells me that: 1) They (whoever "they" are) were also showing FFT running on iPhone. 2) The development of FFT is still "midway" in development. Dunno about the rest. -Andiron
that the worst news i heard in years ..it was supposed to come out at e3..plz dont tell me its not going to be available in november or the holiday season of december
I think we should see if anyone who can read Japanese can more accurately translate. Another translation is that "development is underway" and it could have been mistranslated as "midway". I have no real idea and was only trying to toss out what Babelfish translated it as. I'm not trying to cause anyone any heartburn... I too am very much looking forward to FFT on the iPhone soon too but I'd much rather wait longer if it means a better port of the game. Anyway, we probably shouldn't hijack this thread about Secret of Mana any longer...
Thanks, Andiron! I am also more interested in FFT. I loved The Shining Force, my first true SRPG, and am impatiently waiting for some other great games in the genre...
One of my favorite games of all time. I spent way too many hours looking for the "Solar" elemental because I read it existed in the English version on some website. Sucks.
