I'll play the game a bit more before I post a review to iTunes. Graphics, music, and voice work - all AMAZING! I was impressed by the quality of the title screen, but I wasn't prepared for the animations in the game. The swaying trees were quite spectacular, as were the spiders (the Stage 2+ critters). The story (fully voiced) was fairly interesting (bonus points for no grammatical errors) but was a bit long at the start of the campaign. The music is really good. I would buy some of these tracks if I could. The one exception would be the sporadic "star wars gun" pew pew pew type sounds on one of the tracks. They come out of nowhere and threw me for a loop the first time I heard them. Gameplay is a little on the boring/slow side. Stage 1 is slow and takes forever to complete. You are never in any danger. I recommend cutting waves 1 and 2 and just having wave 3 (it was at least slightly exciting). Stage 2 adds new critters (the aforementioned well-animated spiders) but they are exactly the same as the "hoarders" (or slugs, I forget the name already). So Stage 2 is pretty much exactly the same as Stage 1, with waves 1 and 2 being very slow and boring and uninteresting. Stage 3 adds a new spell (hurray!) which looks interesting in the tutorial, but again, just spiders and slugs. I'm not sure people will play the 20+ minutes required to get to interesting content. I would recommend you ramp up the difficulty GREATLY and cut the critters per wave by 50% or more. Also see below for another suggestion. Controls/UI so far are working fine. One point I'd like to make is that you REALLY need to label your buttons. I hit the pause menu, and had no idea what any of the 3 buttons did! I hit the one I thought was resume, and instead got kicked out to the title screen. I now know what all 3 do, but labeling them will prevent frustration. You should also comment somewhere that you can MOVE! I didn't even know I could move until Stage 2 (you just tap without casting a spell to move). Unfortunately there is no REASON to move. As I said, so far it's pretty slow and boring and there is no chance you have to move to survive. My suggestion would be to add something spawning randomly that you have to pick up. The simplest suggestion would be gold (mana crystals? spell books? anything!) and these give you some benefit. It appears that you gain all of your spells automatically throughout the campaign, but maybe you can change that to only gain level 1 spells, and then the level 2++ spells must be purchased with what you gather during each stage. This would definitely spice up the game beyond the pretty boring "draw circles for 10 minutes" gameplay I have so far through Stage 3. As a final point, maybe allow us to kill 2 or more critters per spell (or maybe reserve this for higher level versions of the spell). I instinctively drew circles around groups of critters but only 1 was killed. Hope this helps! I will keep playing and give you further input later on. Edit: Oh and I forgot to mention, I'm a huge fan of Game Center over Openfeint (who knows what will happen with OF now that they have been purchased), so I would recommend GC over OF, but I know this could be a bit of work for you. Just a suggestion! PixelChemist Active Member Apr 21, 2011 25 0 0 #15 PixelChemist, Apr 28, 2011 Would love a promo code if you have any left. Thanks! I'm on an iPad.
