...when I put my fist into it. I've been less hesitant about hitting it when it misbehaves since I mainly use my Macbook these days, but I'm still kind of annoyed it broke. The thing is, it's only half broken... it works fine until the HDD tries to access a specific part of the data, then it freezes. So I can use it, but it's a bit of a gamble. Luckily all of my music and pretty much everything valuable was on my ext. HDD, and Foobar & VLC still work, so I can use those. Photoshop works too but I get the feeling if I start using it, it'll eventually try to access a crappy part of the drive. I love my Macbook but there are certain things I want to use Windows for. I like how Photoshop behaves on there, I prefer Foobar to iTunes for organizing music and I watched videos on there simply because watching them on my Macbook makes it too hot. So I can either take the risk and use it sparingly, throw it away and make do with the Macbook, or buy a new one... which I totally can't afford. Lame. /rant Edit: BTW if anyone knows about data recovery, there are a couple of files I'd like to save. I'm getting CRC errors though, does that mean I've lost all hope?
You could install Windows via Bootcamp on the Macbook for all your Windowsing needs? Or send the laptop for a new hard drive maybe. or BOTH
I don't think I could really work with Photoshop on my Macbook, the screen res isn't high enough. Plus I try to treat my Macbook well, so I don't really wanna put it through the horrors the laptop went through, it was like the workhorse. I guess I could get a new HDD, but it's a pretty old laptop now, I might as well just wait till I replace it... I'll see how much I struggle using it in the mean time.
How about cutting down on your console game purchases and save up for a new laptop? That way you can also combat your game buying addiction. Two birds with one stone.
That could work... or maybe a PC. I'm not even sure how much a decent PC costs anymore, it's been a decade since I bought one.
I'm not having a Macbook and a Macbook Pro. I'd have a Macbook and a desktop, but a Mac is likely gonna cost twice as much.
Alright, almost twice as much. That'd cost me a year to save up for at this rate, unless someone's feeling charitable this Christmas. I need a new job.
You could always custom-build a PC. Probably cheaper than a pre-designed one, but you'll be close to hitting the $1000 mark or... 636 Euros? I dunno how the conversion system works.
My laptop feels like it's well past its expiry date. I want to get a Macbook Pro, but having just bought a new motorbike and an iPhone 4, I think I'll wait a while.
$1000 is £627, but stuff is always more expensive here so you can't just convert the price and work it out It'd probably end up closer to £700.
You're right, I really should take on that career as a millionaire businessman people keep trying to force upon me. To be honest, I could buy any PC/Mac I wanted tomorrow, but I'd be paying it back for ages and that's a pretty big downer.
What about installing Windows on a spare external HDD (or buying an extra one on the cheap), and booting the PC from there for now? It can serve as an extra data back-up when you do get a permanent solution. I find very few people have a 2nd back-up physically far away from their others. Or you could just e-bay if you already have a 2nd back-up
Buy a 1tb external hard drive then take your laptop to your company and repair it, or you can purchase a recovery disk via manufacture's website or call them
You know, before I thought this was an insult, but seriously, you DO need to get a higher paying job.
No shit. Nearly 3 million unemployed and 6.5 million in part-time work, plus the government has just decided it's a good idea to stop funding job seeking agencies.
Well I can onlly work part-time 'cause I got college to attend too. But even then, it's still a solid... $500 a month? Something like that.
