Star command is a great old pc game. Where different ships individually battle each other. See ur-quan masters. Wtheck is this?
I know this is a joke, but somehow this is looking more and more likely. Honestly, it's fine if you guys take forever, just as long as you deliver on the hype.
Thats why we released these screens specifically. You can take a look at our older screens and see where the interface has come from - we have been tweaking and tweaking and tweaking. We would be having problems if we were adding new things, expanding things etc. but really all we have been doing is making the stuff that we locked in over the summer make sense and look badass. Next comes populating the universe now that we have our core systems in place and working. Bring in beta testers to figure out exploits and play balancing, put out a trailer, release the game. Life is good.
Do what Mike Shinoda purposed to do prior to the release of A Thousand Suns, every time someone asks when the game will be released, delay it by some unspecified amount of time.
Space Alert could be an inspiration too...? Space Alert -- boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/38453/space-alert Would be cool if they also mentioned "Space Alert" board game w/their inspiration. This is a game that could totally use a 'turn based' iOS version. I'm hella psyched, but somewhat concerned that it will be too much like GameDevStory, which can drag a bit at points.
We would love for the game to be as fun as Gamedev was - but Star Command is quite different in a lot of areas - I don't think we run the risk of the game dragging - as the feedback is a bit more rich (animations, battles, changing backgrounds, enemies etc) BUT some of the risks we run are the game feels too easy - or some of the many skills your guys have may be too powerful. Obviously we are doing our best to not let that happen- but those are the problems we are looking out for- Balancing the game so it feels challenging- the problem with gamedev-is it felt like afte r a certain point you simply couldn't lose.
I'm hoping to see this game tonight or tomorrow, I wanna know the cost and if I should save some money... Looks pretty good. I'm not a big fan of these kind of games but I liked game Dev story and the idea of space exporation is way better than anything ive ever heard, mainly because u deal with fighting, diplomacy, healing, tanks, and exploration....
indeed Yeah im afraid we're not done yet - but we continue to keep on chugging along. The game will indeed focus on your ship itself and how you can improve its ability to do the many tasks in front of you -
Ya I, I figured... Oh well... I actually made a typo. I'm looking at tanks trying to remember what the he'll I was talking about and I actualy meant ranks.. Like captain- commander- lieutenant etc... So how in depth will this be will it have things like engineering and other main areas, I assume a sickbay is a given. But is there like a main bridge? With there be countless missions requiring both diplomatic and tactical war. Will there be missions? Will the game be different depending on what u choose... Do u have the ability to choose at all? I dunno from watching star trek Tng I know alot of Trekkies" will go crazy for this, likely because there's never been a good star trek game mainly because its just so much. I know that the final product will be great but if your taking this time to add more then I think that's a better idea... U need alot of guts to make this kind of game. Trekkies will be harsh if it doesn't live up to what they want... However I like the show but I'm not obsesed with it.. But with gaming it's a diff a story... I think from what Ive seen it will be good.. Hoping ur like the captain and having to deal with a bunch of stuff etc... Then go back to ur quarters for a cup of Earl grey... And one last question sorry, is this game being made with star trek in mind, like are the people working on the games fans of ST or is this just simply star trek like but from a completely different space voyqage? Sorry that's all just really curious about this game...
Yes there are ranks. There are 10 levels. There are about 20 rooms so far - they unlock unique crew actions (repair) they all act similarly though - so not overly complex - main bridge included. There are countless battles but limited missions. think final fantasy random encounters. Missions are scripted. We are trying to up the diplomacy aspect as much as we can- but this is difficult - given our limited resources. We are trying to be creative in how to get this into the game. You choose what mission to go on all sci-fi fans are welcome all sci-fi genres/titles/movies are being utilized for ideas - we are trying to get away from Star Trek as this IS NOT star trek - we don't want it to be seen as such. We are changing uniforms to get away from that. thanks for all the good questions.
