While I'd love to keep the colours we see on tv, why not have us choose each sections colours from a handful of colours at the start of the game? That way if we want Star Trek colours we can, or if we want to be original, we can also. Surely this would then rule you out of any "infractions" as we, not you, are choosing the colour scheme. Just a thought, I've no idea on law so might not work at all! Hehe.
Agreed, a display of different colored uniforms at the start of the game for us to choose from would be the best way to go.
Is there one uniform, or do we get to pick a selection of uniforms? Better yet, making your own would be cool. I imagine it would be something like Minecraft's skin maker.
well then So we all agree- not choosing your own uniforms is the way to go. Red, Blue and Yellow it is. j/k we will heed what seems to be consensus that choosing ones own uni color is best - lets see how hard/easy this is to implement....
yeah, if you can make it so we can choose each separate part of the uniform that would be great. example: main colour, badge, pattern, shoes etc that way we can really make them unique looking.
I normally don't get hyped up for games, but I just wanted to chime in and say this looks pretty sweet. Brilliant idea.
Based on what the screenshots are, it won't be just the colour of the uniform that would change, so yea not sure how simple or not drawn out it will be.
I also wanted to chime in and say just how much I am looking forward to this game, it looks fantastic. I really enjoy Game Dev Story-type games, and combining it with a Star Trek inspired space drama is just genius.
Room Ideas Hey all, We are looking for some ideas for rooms you would like to see and actions you would like to take inside of those rooms. We have brain stormed quite a bit but feel like the community might have some good ideas we haven't thought of. Here is what we have so far: Bridge Bar Crew Quarters Research Brig Weapons Bays Engineering Teleportation Holodeck Medical Shuttle Bay Armory Any ideas?
Captains day cabin?? (Meetings, diplomacy) training areas (weapons range) Classroom/theater (learning, music (they are cultured people)) Tailor (Uniforms repair, upgrade, change) Sporting/Exercise areas (increase strength, fitness, team building) Storage/Spares (looking for things) Secondary bridge (if the first one gets damaged) Damage Control (where damage control teams are coordinated) Communications room (many of the bridge functions have separate rooms that do most of the work but have full teams supporting the senior officer on the bridge???). i think a great idea for the game would be a secret unlockable room where you have to unlock an achievement to get it.A Game Room would be sweet to unlock.
Canteen - food. Green zone (vegetation) - oxygen. Hull - external repairs. Chapel - well-being. Bathroom facilities.
Library/Research - to look up info or history about alien species, planets, systems, etc Computer room/Mainframe or AI core - main computer or AI is housed Maybe the Holodeck could be used for training which increases crewmember skills but is more expensive to use than classroom but trains faster as the tradeoff? Or perhaps the tradeoff of the Holodeck being more expensive is that perhaps it can do more versatile training whereas you'd have to have multiple classrooms otherwise. Maybe the Holodeck could allow the player to run through certain parts of the game in an emulated/simulation fashion to prototype the possible outcome of a risky or expensive endeavour? Maybe doing that wouldn't play out the actual part of the game but could result in a bonus to that crewmber's abilities in the actual mission but it would only last for that mission but would give a good bonus to make it worthwhile. Edit: Maybe the Dungeonkeeper is coming out in me now and I'm not sure if your ship can get boarded but maybe you could develop different security systems such as alarms or automated defense or sentry turrets to help defend sensitive or critical areas of the ship. Or to prevent breakouts from the brig. If you were really evil (such as playing a Klingon like ship) you'd have a variety of torture or interrogation rooms to convert enemy boarders to your crew. What kind of ship-to-ship weapons will be available? Hoping for a cloaking device. And hoping that you can at through the entire "career" of a starship captain such that you start off with a small frigate-sized ship and get to upgrade to bigger and better ships as your captain gets promotions and seniority. Science areas could maybe be more specialized such as xenobiology (study of alien life), geology (study of planets), etc Workshop - let's you juryrig new devices and sometimes come up with a new invention ... or it backfires and kills someone
Agreed. We will have unlockables and rooms you can only get when you get to a certain point in the game. Awesome ideas folks. Keep em comin.
Love the Vegetation room. Really good idea. We could have vegetation from other planets that you cultivate. Very cool.
Maybe a general shop/ sovenier store where you could pick up items from all the planets youve been to?
We have something similar planned. It's called "Contraband" and it includes things you discover on planets, missions, other ships etc. Can't tell you much more than that, but it should be fun when your guys discover a vagina shaped egg on a derelict ship in the middle of deep space. Bring it aboard captain?
These are awesome. And we are also big time Dungeonkeeper fans - and yes your ship can be invaded (think X-Com) so these are all great. LOVE the interrogation room. Let's darker players have their outlet. Its not all peace and love in space. And as for the workshop we have some ideas like an Android Station where you can build Data's and things like that. A huge cloaking device is fun to. Room sized facility rather than just a switch. Weapons were keeping open right now. They will get specific, but for alpha/beta purposes they're just Weapon Level I, Weapon Level II, etc. Love the ideas though. Keep em coming.
