Also, this question is ludicrous. How RocketCat treats its early supporters is by giving them a one-time discount on the game, along with two exclusive, fun vanity items. Or do you expect them to give you something else in addition to that? Once you're good enough at the game to handle the nightmare levels you won't have any problems unlocking them. Just keep at it and you'll beat those dev scores in no time. EDIT: I'm really not trying to be inflammatory here. I just think it's really strange that you seem to think RocketCat is somehow taking advantage of early buyers.
@aznriceboi What pic/ pic of what? And I only have 4 more achievements to get! Avalanche silver and gold, the finder gold achievement, and the mega secret. My times are constantly being refined, I feel like if I put enough time into it I could challenge Qpawn. (Bit of a stretch) I will never again complain about the scoring of this game. Ever.
Quick question. I know it's already June 20 but is the whole free hats and discount thing still going on?
Hi, Great game, I am just very bad at it though. Nice to see all the positve comments the game is getting, good luck and look forward seeing your next game. Yes, I bought Hook Champ and am no better at it either. But I still enjoy playing both, a lot. David
TITS OR GTFO! nah, just kidding. but did you play the lite version of hook champ? if not, maybe you should have.
@fletch you let one bad review overshadow all the positive comments, including the positive slidetoplay and toucharcade review? nice.
Hi, I was confused by this too. They talk of an honest review, is it honest because it is negative? To ignore all the positive reviews and somehow suggest they are not honest is a bit wrong. To each their own, you may be missing out on a great gaming experience by this. David
Yea it was the only Review that talked about true gameplay and the are several like the one I quoted not just his. Not The OMFG this game is rad you have to buy it reviews you are refering to.
Frankly the way they minimize the gameplay every game can be negatively reviewed on their gameplay. Racing games; all you do is give gas and steer. FPS; all you do is walk around and fire a weapon. etc
Hi, Not going back through the whole thread here or checking reviews on other sites, I do find it kind of surprising this would be the only review that talked of game play. One pays attention to what one wants to, if that review "spoke" to you when others did not, then maybe this game is not right for you. David
I don't agree with the harshness; I love the game immensely. But it's not that bad of a review. Seems to me like it just didn't hook them (excuse the pun). Although I don't agree with the negative connotations of their complaints, they are valid points in this reviewer's eyes. It's purely their opinion, and I honestly see nothing wrong with that. The last couple sentences, especially, give off a feeling that this person enjoyed the game at face-value, but when they got deeper into it, they noticed that it was much more repetitious than they originally thought. They might also be a person that loved Hook Champ and was let down by this. That's where I thought they were going with their first couple sentences, honestly
The difference is those genres have both good and poor examples (e.g. Halo compared to most 007 FPS's). Although the swing-genre is fairly limited for competition, the nearest type of game would be a platformer. Any decent platformer would provide numerous secret areas in varying worlds that could be revisited when you find power-ups later in the game. Add to that a set number of lives so you are challenged and some range of enemies to fight or at least prevent your progress and you've got yourself a fun game. SQH doesn't have any of that. You swing and swing and swing collecting coins and finding silly and rather pointless secret areas without any opposition. If you die you just respawn at the last checkpoint and continue until you get to the end. You then visit a shop and buy hooks and hats with your coins that give you no advantage at all, purely for cosmetic value, and then go to the next level to do it all again. Boring!
