chrisb3, Yeah the macabre shield is scary to most humans, but the beasties don't really care about a few bones. ;)

RevolvingDoor, thanks! And I think we're just getting warmed up. ;)

Well, if you guys need any additional game art done on the cheap, shoot a PM my way. I'd be honored to work with some of my favorite developers. ;)

Has any thought been given to making a scroll or potion... or perhaps using an existing scroll/potion to restore your shield?

I can see that adding an item might create balance issues... but I know your interested in lowering hoarding of our inventory. Perhaps if someone wanted to keep their War Shield or whatever they could use a restore potion?

Just thinking out loud... on floor 14 and shield-less again :p

"You have been teleport-swapped" GAH! What is that???? <Death>

Wow, so many more suggestions that will get me killed so much more often! And I still haven't seen the sword on v1.1 > < How about so something beneficial? Like a Troll bone or forehead that acts like a Wand of Dig, allowing one to carve 3 or so spaces out of walls. That would allow some shortcuts for my frantic running from centipede swarms. Or troll bait, to encourage them to knock out an incovenient barrier in the tighter maps.

If we are sticking to evil, then teleport dampening floor tiles to stymie Mindfield's "Room of Pit-trap" evasion. Or just floors of full of magic dampening and fire drakes. Am I evil enough yet?

I too think it would be great if the smart button was a little more flexible (sorry to grumble about it). Like double tapping for a contextual favorites menu? As an only slightly exaggerated example of my pains, imagine being caught inbetween a pit and a drake but on top of a chest... It reads "open chest" rather than "cross pit". Or being on stairs before a trap with no way to sneak. Yes, I could go back then sneak forward but... (this one is a real example). Being able to change from a selection of three via double tap might alleviate this? The player could even choose their own favorites. That's my probably unrealistic suggestion.

I say it because I love it ^^

Oh I know what it's like to be shieldless. I've been using a system of hording shields - I arrange them around a temple on one part of one floor so that, when I go back, I'll instantly see the collection on the map. Makes it easier to find them again.

The shields are pretty essential as far as I can see, so it seems worth the time to put them where they'll be handy. Although I usually forget what floor I've left them on (any chance of an in-game notes feature?).

In terms of the contextual button, the only problem I've ever had with it is using up an item I didn't intend to. Like, pick up restoration potion, see a trap, go to sneak but, instead, I've just used up my precious potion. Happens quite rarely but I did wonder if there's a way to prevent that.

RevolvingDoor cool stuff, we'll keep you in mind. ;) Right now I am the sole sprite/tile artist, heh.

And yes you guys... we're looking into the action button thing. For the next big update, I think we will have it fixed up for the better. Probably an "action" button that drops down to multiple action icons if appropriate for the situation.

Also shields... yup, I'm working on something of the magical variety for that. :) Funny the tactics you guys are using for shield hoarding, heh.

    Thanks Jeff! :)
I figure it wouldn't involve as much coding to put an option in the settings menu. Something that pro players could easily find but inexperienced players wouldn't have to worry about.

How about new PC sprites as well? I'm always that Swedish looking fellow. Maybe ... you could unlock random sprites by retrieving the sword? I love unlockables. :)

Shumby, in the next major update we're adding new characters as DLC... think Fighter (current), Ranger, Magic User, Thief... ;)

Awesome idea! You might want to consider adding some sort of "rehab" button as well, since that will probably make Sword of Fargoal impossible to put down...

    ^ Too late!

Looking forward to seeing what's in store for the update. Just a few questions.... did you say the HP balancing is sorted for this coming update? (i.e. the wands will be more effective on the lower floors). Also, I think you mentioned adding stairs to the centipede lair on level 27 - is that also for this update?

    Thanks..... the Womble

cool! I'm spending the $ on the DLC for sure.

I still like my unlockable skin idea, though. Maybe have 10 hidden skins for each class and everytime you rescue the sword you unlock one at random for that class? I'd love to jog around the dungeon as a Samurai or Skeletor or something. Maybe looking like a little Darth Vader with an enchanted light-saber or just some different armor colors/layouts and helmets, etc.

Maybe chuck norris with enchanted fists...

womble, yes the HP adjustment is in for the update, as well as the centipede stairs. Any previous games in progress won't have the adjustments, though.

Smashy potions are in now too (Legend mode). Fun fun! TSHshhHHHhsh!

I was just thinking about this earlier today! I'd love rewards for beating the dungeon on Legend multiple times (though having Paul at the helm means he won't let us get to many wins in ;))

I'll definitely pester him into making me a custom sprite so I can beat legend mode as myself! :D

Is that what you want, Doffie? There are mushrooms for that. ;)

Actually it's the effect of falling in a pit, or being hit with rocks... if the impact is damaging enough, and with a bit of luck, one or more of your potions will be smashed and lost. Take that, potion hoarders! ;) Mmm, smashed potion goes nicely with burnt scroll, in my opinion.

Jeez, you have a mean streak, Paul. I read every single post on this board, and all I hear from you and your death-worshipping pals are diabolical additions to my fave game. How about the goodies and rewards you'll be adding, huh, huh? I heard you were a lover as well as a fighter. Or maybe that was a vicious rumor (rumour, for the womblie man).

    Just kidding. Kinda.

Hee hee hee... well if you're not playing Legend, then you may have no fear of smashed or burnt belongings. There will always be new goodies! I had a great idea just this morning while driving to work, actually.

    Goody re Goodies

 I ain't afraid to die and am often entertained by all the ways that's possible, but I do get super happy when I find nice treats. So what if they don't ultimately save my ass, it's the thrill of exploring, in this or any other game.

Side note: I've also been playing Chaos Rising, which I find very beautiful and fun in many ways. But I find myself _much_ more emotionally involved in Fargoal, perhaps because I feel like I'm making my own story more. Does that make sense?
