Premature incantations? That's a serious problem. I've never had the problem myself but might I suggest thinking of baseball? It might keep you from wasting those BAFs
So do you guys usually drag from the hero to use the wands mostly then, or use the double-tap hold? Either way, I do believe an option is in order.
see I like the double tap and hold method when I actually want to use the darn thing. could it be an option to have to tap the wand icon to arm it the first time and maybe after so many seconds of not using it it disarms itself? How funny is this that Madgarden is sitting on the other side of a wall from me but I have to type my suggestions here too...heh!
Hero Paul... has won. Level 21, sword only stolen once on the way up. Entirely blessed by good fortune, with a temple shield from dungeon 3 or 4 all the way through, and with a couple of strength potions still left in my pack and unnecessary. Also, I just had to go back to the black-floored area in dungeon 20 --- even though I know there is no temple there (till the next update). Wanted the thrill of walking into that gorgeous pile of gold again. Then on to the ogre, who was a piece of cake against my strength potions. Okay, starting my next game. My hero will be Rachel this time. Chick power anyone?
Yay! When you win, I win, And when you lose I win too! I can't not win! Congrats Doffie Curious to hear the highs and lows of your winning journey... Helps me fine tune for next time. Rocco, yeah I agree. Just have to figure out some trick to reduce the accidental case and it will rule
Oh there will be PLENTY of running towards your own doom... but now you have nothing to blame it on... expect for Paul's deadly dungeon
I got this game while it was for free and find it horribly boring. I hate the controls and horrible graphics. I deleted it in five minutes.
100 rogues has oppened me up a bit to play rogue likes. At the moment I can't justify spending the money but when I get bored of my games I will probably pick this up.
Speaking of premature incantations (thank you, Vegan, that's perfect). I had the same probs as Mrs M. at first, not so much now that I am more mindful about using wands. I prefer dragging because it feels more like actual aiming and makes me feel more "mighty." Well except when my target shrugs off my strike and says, "Is that all you've got, you little wuss-bubble?" Note: I seem always to get a ton of wands of opening. I've only used those twice in a gazillion games, and I usually ignore wands of striking because they seem pretty useless.
ah yes, premature incantation had me laughing so hard the tears were rolling! I use to ignore the wands of opening too. I use them a lot when I don't have any detection spells, now. I use them to open chests and not get blown up so much, since it seems a lot of chest do explode now! Great job on winning! I hope your Adventuress Rachel keeps you safe or at least dies a noble death!
Yeah, Paul, you're a winner; that's been confirmed. This win game was _really_ involving for me. I did have a *ton* of luck; not only having the temple shield, but collecting so much gold that now I wish I'd actually counted how many times me and my shield were blessed --- many times. I couldn't believe that I wouldn't use the shield up and have to deal with vicious fights as I reached lower levels. Just didn't happen. I almost never possessed a shield spell, which made me nervous, but I didn't need those as desperately as I usually do. In a few tough spots (dungeon with entire herds of firedrakes), the teleport wand gave me breathing room. Of greater interest, since such luck is rare, is that I made more judicious decisions than usual. Didn't hoard potions, but thought carefully about how to spend them. Ran away from baddies to give myself time to think. Kept track of how many restore potions I had. Oh wait, I _did_ hoard strength potions. Had a dozen of those at one time, and was carrying 10 by the time I met the ogre, at which point I drank 3 of them. (Could I have drunk more than 3 --- is there a limit? Dunno, but 3 of those turned the ogre to jelly. I was sorely tempted, as I've done before, to ignore the sword and keep dungeon-diving. I would (and perhaps will) someday enjoy seeing how deep I can go before dying. So, how many dungeon levels exist right now and are infinite (or a few more) levels on the horizon in future updates? Grin. That's probably more detail than you wished to know. PS More kudos for the much-enhanced visuals. e.g., In the black-floor rooms of dungeon 20, the various colors glowing on the walls and the beauty of those walls in general is just great. Thanks for releasing your inner artist. You're really good, man!
