that's why he doesn't wear ties or boobs for that matter. They make his Bruce Lee tshirts look funny.
Whassup? I spend my whole evening in deep thought, trying to keep my Legendary butt safe and return to find the whole forum is nothing but boobs and orbs. TA is T&A now, and it's all your own delinquent hero fault, Mindfield. All. Kinda makes you proud, doesn't it.
Woo! Just got the sword for the first time. I think that my next go through the dungeon needs to be on a level harder than "squire". Even though the game was nerfed in that mode, it is still enough to give you some good ideas for tips and strategies. Here's what I figured out: - Horde your shield scrolls for level 20. Everything seemed to hit twice as hard. - Take your time. Mapping levels pays off. - If you come upon a staircase and you're not quite ready to descend - do it anyway. The hints as to where the 'up' staircases are will be very handy on the rise up. Nice game fellas!
Congrats farnwworthiness! As soon as it was added, I played Squire mode and thought that the lack of permadeath was terrific, a great introduction for a noob like me, someone who'd never played a rogueleike game before. And it was just that! I learned my way around, and now I'm playing both Hero and Legendary games and it's "Never look back." You won't either, I can tell. The replay ability of this game is outtasight, yes?
way to go Farnsworthiness! I wonder if you will get away with hording those shield scrolls in the harder (esp. legend) modes. Let us know, k? I'm currently (still) on floor 4 in legend mode. Too afraid to go further...hehe. And yes, Madgarden is down right evil. He has SO much more in the works for this little gem!
I just killed a troll on legend using only a dart trap to do damage!! I deserve a freakin medal to wear in game
How'd you do that, Vegan? By luring the troll to step on the dart trap repeatedly? I'm so impressed with the number of tactical decisions one can make in this seemingly straightforward roguelike. I guess that's what people mean when they describe a game as "deep." In any case, good for you.
I've so far managed to keep my Legendary hero, Fool Hardy, alive and well up to Level 17 (at dungeon 16). Shield spells have been few and far between. I've been saving the few I've found, but used up two of them to protect me against the nasty traps surrounding the spirals. Might live (or die) to regret that. Actually equipping a good shield (or a great one, like temple or dragonscale, if you get lucky) seems like the most important survival tool at the higher levels. For me, at least. In this Legend game, I've not had the *best* shields, but my war shield, which is pretty good, keeps getting blessed after it's been warn down, and each time I breathe a little sigh of relief. Mrs. M.: The only thing you have to fear is fear itself. Oh, and gangs of dragons. And a few other things.
Actually I stepped on a trap and the troll was standing between me and where the dart fires. So I put him to sleep and started frantically swiping back and forth to trigger the trap, haha. Good Fun!
Wow, dart traps are pretty weak... did he get poisoned as well? Or was it the much more damaging iron bolt trap?
Sir Biftec's log. 13th May Entry I Found the dragon's horde, got sick of looting it. It wasn't so much the tedium of going back and forth as it was wondering what the hell dragons do with all that gold anyway. They sure as hell don't spend it on breath mints. So I Decided to try and find the sword. The only stairs down on the 19th floor led to the dragon's den and there are no passages to other sections of floor 19. I have to assume there are stairs elsewhere in one of the wings of floor 18 that lead down to another section of 19 were I will find the stairs to the labyrinth Or maybe that fabled strip club. Entry II As expected, there was another set of stairs to a different wing of 19 from the east wing of 18 -- opposite the stairs I came up, in fact. The room was filled with rogues, elves, warerbears, rats and other manner of beasts I made quick work of. Well, except for the teabagger. It was weak and had no weapons worth mentioning, but it had a shield made of forged stupid reinforced with magical thinking that I could only penetrate by throwing my Blue Cross shield at it. Entry III Found the stairs to the labyrinth, but I'm not going to take them until I've fully explored this level. Besides, it smells like the minotaur I understand is down there has really bad gas. Entry IV Found two new wings of 19 -- one blue cobblestone and one green -- and stairs to a new section of 20, all gold and angular walls and such. Could be some nice stuff here, could be nasty beasts, but I didn't hear any banjos, so how bad can it be? Entry V I swear I just saw Elvis dash across a passage in the distance, but when I ran over there, the only thing I caught was the faint whiff of peanut butter and bananas. Damn. Entry Rhubarb Mushrooms, man. My hands are sausages. Yeah, you make me a goddamn sandwich, Gary Coleman! Entry VI or VII or whatever Oh, my damn head. What the hell did I do with that orc?
Don't know if this was posted anywhere but here's a little PSA: Watch out for the combination of toxic gas & fire traps. They will put a world of hurt on you. I was wandering around on level 12 and opened a chest that hit me with toxic gas. While recovering from that, I stepped on a trap tile that turned out to be a fire trap. Our friendly Madgarden decided that the 2 should mix to create one giant explosion that smacked me for 80 or 90 hp (out of 105). Thankfully there were no critters in the room, or I'd have been in serious trouble. I wonder what other trap combos are out there... Just a little more insight into the depth put into this great game.
Is there a visual difference in the projectile? It looked like a bolt but it took at least 7 hits to kill it. I figured it was a troll that was already weakened by something else
Ah, Mindfield, a little ancillary evidence to support my claim of seeing Elvis "down there" (sic). The teabaggers' shields are impermeable. For now, but perhaps not forever. But perhaps forever. But..but....
Were you stroking your goatee or twirling a mustache while reveling in your devious trap combos? Finally found a Temple Shield. Pretty cool shield. Quite a HP nerf you put in with the HP increase on leveling. I just noticed that in the last 5 character levels, I think I've gained a total of 10 HP. I guess it's not that big of a deal, but I think it does slow the gameplay down a little. I find myself standing around a lot recovering, instead of exploring. Oh yeah....Painbringer Amulet...very kick @ss. Think I've actually killed some critters just with that alone.
I was stroking *both* goatees. Yes, the HP is nerfed, but so it is for all creatures. And you get hurt, but you aren't standing around waiting for 300HP to heal, so it's actually faster. Also... use one of your 50 healing potions I say. Dang you people are stingy. Thanks yes, I thought that was a rather cool idea for an amulet.
