But you'll always be #1 And no matter what Mr. Madgarden says, he really does like you. That's funny stuff right there! we like our rabid fans. We've had our shots. Froth away.
How can you not like TEH WOBBLEZ! Especially after that stunt he pulled recently... coming up with a great Option C that we all agreed was the best choice for Fargoal 2.
Very glad you went with option C. Great job, WOBBLEZ! Mrs. Madgarden: it's that kind of appreciation that makes S.O.F and the whole experience so wonderful. Madgarden: Oh wow, enemies can go past 0hp? Kinda like the P.C before auto quaffing a potion? Oh wow, that swoosh effect is well done, because it definitely gives the illusion of limb involvement. Great to hear that the game may be less than a month away! Sooo, I know I'm all new around here and stuff but I have a small request: I remember you saying that there was going to be a way to charm monsters, so would it be possible to create a wand, skill, or spell of provocation that could cause monsters to attack each other? It's just an idea that I borrowed from a little game of yore called Ultima Online Did any of you ever play it? The provocation skill was my absolute all time favorite. I remember that if you could get the skill high enough, you could (and Oh I did) delve into a dragon lair and provoke 2 of them to fight while blasting them with spells before finishing off the victor and taking their treasure. ****ING AWESOME FEELING, let me tell you. Lemme just say that I certaintly don't expect you to do something like that now, but maybe sometime in the future if you dig it? Thanks in advance!
Hey, woah there. I never realized I was the voice of authority over such important matters. I just wanted to share my feelings on it. I really hope you can work some DLC into Fargoal 2 that requires payment, you lot deserve a few (copper) coins! How about the original tile set for starters? Anyway, it's been a while since we had new screens..... any chance good Sir?
Well I asked for feedback, and you gave us a good, useful response. AUTHORITAH! There will be DLC for new character classes, didn't you know? And some other stuff as time goes on. Sure, here's a little screenshot of me testing out the thief and his lockpicking skill a little while ago: (he's holding a dart, FYI)
Nice screen... why is there an option to "take" the chest? Can you carry locked chests around with you until you find lock picks or something?
WOOOOOH! Also in unrelated news, that is so badass that you can carry the locked chests around. There have been so Many times where I found multiple secrets with more chests than picks, so I had to backtrack several lvls confusingly sometimes to get at them goodies. So I'm guessing that means that the thief auto succeeds at picking locks, as I know you wouldn't remove the other classes ability to pick locks, unless you add a spell of opening or make wands of opening more prevalent. (just thinking out loud here) Did I mention you are completely awesome for already having my idea covered before ever mentioning it!? should we expect such awesomeness in 2.0 or 2.x???
Well lockpicking is a "tinkering" skill, and the thieves are better at it than everyone else. It's not an automatic success, though. As for the rest, well you know, it's my job to think of this stuff. I think the less I reveal about the little details, the more you'll appreciate it when you figure them out. You may suffer in uninformed agony in the meantime, but alas... providing agony is also my job in this case.
Well, I (& I probably speak for everyone else here as well) thank you very much for having the fortitude to keep most of it close to the vest, though it must be maddening for you as well. Perhaps your moniker used to merely be Garden? ;D Oh, was that your polite way of saying shutup about whether or not provoking monsters, etc will make it in 2.0 or future updates? Haha, if so I'll leave you alone. (for a while anyway) & let the magic occur.
Heh well I just mean I have thought of a *lot* of stuff the past months, and agitation of monsters is one of the many things that are logical and easily doable for 2.0.
Just on a bit of a side note, can you give me any hints on how the blessing system works now, I know it used to be every 2000 gold but that doesn't seem to work anymore. I've just chewed through a Temple Shield and a couple of War shields, a lot of levels and a ton of gold and still I think I've only had one blessing my whole game. I know it's not usually the Madgarden way to just blurt out the solution, but can I please get a hint?
That would make sense, as I made my way deeper, I started moving through the levels a bit quicker. That is until I fell through a pit and landed in a dungeon full of Fire Drakes on level 20 and was unceremoniously burnt to death. Oh the joys of dungeoning! Man I love this game.
I really really can't wait 'til 2.0 is ready, heh. Oh, hey... does anyone play Hero mode, really? Was thinking of the merits of just having two modes... basically, permadeath (Legend) and resurrect (Squire).
I play Hero mode. Haven't got the guts to play Legend yet! Maybe scrap Squire and leave Hero and Legend?
I only ever play on Hero mode. I suppose I should give Squire a go just so I can finally get to that sword.
I personally haven't looked back since I started off on my legend questing. It would just be too easy any other way. I imagine that a lot of folks wouldn't like you taking out Hero mode, as it's a good middle-ground. Just my 2c. Oh sweet, monster provocation will be in 2.0, yays! Man this game is going to be so good. I always love it in games where the gameplay is varied enough to create games within a game. I can't wait!!!! *faints with joy* I'm really curious as to how pets are going to work, myself. Actually I'm curious about a *lot* of things but I have absolute faith in your prowess, Paul. By the way, I was scouring the internetz for things to do with S.O.F last nite & ran across an interview with Jeff talking about the humble beginnings of the game up to the IPhone version. That is a he'll of a story. I bet when he contacted you, you were blown away, huh? I also had no idea that you co-created the 2003 remake that I kept hearing about. Neat & inspirational stuff, man.
