Way cool worm! Of course that's easy to say since the worm's in Canada and I'm safe in CT. Hope all the Fargoal 2 parts come together well for you, not too much agro, and I'm sure you know how enthusiastically your fan club is cheering you on. Personally, I cannot find another iDevice game I like so well, and I've searched, god, I!ve searched.
Oh, right, and worms really respect national borders, right? [gulumph gulumph gulumph] "Ahh crap I forgot to renew my passport!"
You, Sir, have a great taste. Your signature could be mine... the Minter games (LOVE them), Sword & Sworcery, this... welcome!
Here's a question I just thought of... what happens to the Mac App Store version? Upgraded to 2.0, staying as another "Legends" version, or having both (hint hint )?
I'm pretty sure the plan is to release Fargoal 2 as a new Mac app, then we have both versions available.
Sounds like Fargoal 2 is shaping up to be more different than anticipated. What happens to the original Fargoal on iPhone then? It sounds like you want two versions on the Mac store because they're both good in their own right, but iPhone owners don't seem to have a choice?
iPhone owners automatically get Fargoal 2.0 as an update, and Fargoal Legends remains the same 1.x build. Both will be universal.
That's the idea! Don't want to rule out options for anyone who (for some insane reason) still wants to play the older version.
Welcome, Ruby. And fair warning: this is one game that grows _more_ addictive with time. Doesn't seem to wear out as many (most) other games do.
Well, in my experience, worms are s l o w creatures. On the ther hand, the Evil Madgarden might equip his worms with Maserati engines. Just can't trust that guy.
Ok, I am playing through legends and wondering, do I just try to get down the stairs as fast as I can or explore every nook as I have been doing? Also, about how long can it take to beat? I've been playing for a couple hours and I'm only on floor 3.
That's kinda the cool thing about this game. You can play any way you want! Some have had success just uncovering as much as they need to and running down and grabbing the sword, some OCD people like me, have to uncover every single piece of fog and open every single chest (many times to our deaths). In any case, you're likely to die. I find, that I die more quickly the faster I shuffle down the stairs to a new floor. I miss a lot of loot that is helpful on the quest, esp. on the return trip. As for time it takes...that's a tricky question. It's really going to depend on how quickly you do travel through the dungeons. I've heard people getting in and getting the sword and out in a few hours, and then I've heard of people who are still on their first decent after hours and hours (I'm in this category usually) It's going to be very interesting to see how 2.0 allows travel through the dungeons. It is certainly going to be different so the tricks I (we) use now may not work and we'll have to find new strategies anyway.
Wow THAT is what I call an explanation. Thank you Mrs. Madgarden, it appears my curious nature is getting the better of me as well as I can't just go through a floor, I have to find all the traps and pitfalls and holes in the wall that lead to my death. I am playing on normal but so far when I should have died twice I've used a restoration potion I didn't know I had. Needless to say I have gotten very careful but still inquisitive.
Off topic, but I just noticed your location. I grew up about 50 minutes west of Toledo, Ohio! I live in Ontario, Canada now with Madgarden and our boys, but we pass through Toledo whenever we go back home to visit my family.
Mrs. M. Is one of the world's best explainers. And the fact that you can choose your own style and pace when playing Fargoal is definitely one of the game's strong points. For me, a lot of the joy is in the exploration. I like finding loot and, in some games, I've practically danced when I've come upon one of the two strongest shields in the game. I have freed the sword several times, playing in Hero and in Legend mode, but a few of my funnest forays have occurred when I’ve pretty much ignored the sword and just tried to go as deep into the dungeons as possible --- well below Level 20 where the sword resides --- my goal being simply to see how long I can survive. Having never played a roguelike game before, the first time my hero died, at Level 7 or 8 after hours of play, I was pretty frustrated. But I learned pretty quick that it's the journey, man, and the pleasure of working your way out of tight spots is great. Have fun!
oh Doffie, girl, I can't wait till we get our little non-sword quests!! It's going to be so much fun! I don't know if it will come with the big update (likely not) but it will come! I still have never retrieved the sword, it's never been my mission, really. Heh! How weird is that!
