It would be awesome if your old adventurers that died started roaming around again.

Just think coming up against your dead hero/heroine with all of your old gear and gold. It would be epic.

One thing I love about Rogue Touch is searching a wall and finding your old rogue's name or seeing his tombstone. It's a subtle effect that adds to the immersion of the game. Knowing that your old corpse is running around below in SoF, waiting to kill you would make me be on my toes even more.

alright alright, you didn't hear it from me, but grave yards and roaming corpses of dead heroes has been suggested by Madgarden to the Fargoal team already. I know, I know...shocker.

That's good to hear. I knew Paul had it in him to spread more terror and fear across the dungeon lol.

lol that would be awesome, especially if you could then loot the corpse after killing it. Hmm... and then I suspect you'd need to do something to ensure it doesn't come back again.

Heh, you'd want to make sure though that the reborn corpses would be scattered about - imagine dying at the hands of your first corpse, then getting down there to find two undead heroes wanting to kill you. Rinse and repeat, and now that level is deadly as hell to encounter.

    Exactly.

Though we don't have corpses... per-se.

That sounds like something I'd expect to find in Demons Souls. It almost sounds like bad game design, punishing the player for not being good enough, but somehow the public seem to be embracing the challenge :)

Speaking of which, has anyone ever found anything in the piles of bones (sepulcher?) other than skeletons?

Right, that was my thought too, which is why I brought it up - you'd want to be careful of that. Of course Madgarden might be crazy enough to do it. :p

Well the idea with the re-animated dead heroes is, they would appear if you chose to re-enter a failed quest with a new hero. This is an option I really want to have, so you can sort of go back and try again. The catch is, your last hero has used up a lot of the items, and of course is also undead and waiting around for you.

The really tricky challenge I'm having with this is how to figure out the damned UI and management of this sort of save/load case, re-entering an old/failed quest. We're trying to make sure there are as few clicks to get playing as possible, minimal confusion. If I can't get that sorted out, then the whole returning thing won't make it in for the initial launch.

The fact that you are thinking about it alone makes me VERY happy :)

Yeah there's alot of varibles to think about. I can see people abusing this to get awesome gear, gold, etc. Demon's Souls would be amazing if your soul wandered around after dieing. I just want SoF 2 but keep this on the table :) It would be interesting to see what Madgarden comes up with.

I don't really see much exploit here, other than having the fog map uncovered (which I can easily re-cover). You'd still have a noob hero that needs to make it down to where the last hero died with cool stuff. No guarantees there.

Besides, people should be able to play how they want to, if it's what is fun for them.

After I got to thinking about it, I could see players moving back up to floor 1 or 2 and purposefully dieing just to get better items on the next run. I think of crazy stuff like that though so it might just be me. Regardless, it would be a nice addition. Players are free to do what they want inside the dungeon like you said.

What are some odd things that other players do in SoF? For me, I always try to put extra shields next to temples :D

That's as simple as putting the ghost on the furthest traveled floor rather than the current floor. Possibly less engrossing than having it appear where you died, but I suppose we could put it down to wandering about :p

Even if they did try to bring good items up, and die near the entrance, it's still an inexperienced character coming in, and there's no guarantee he won't get quickly killed due to lack of character skill or stats in required areas as he wades in over his head. In Fargoal, great items work much better in the hands of greater heroes.

Still, like I said... let people try to play how they want, if it's fun for them and they have some cool adventure stories to tell afterwards, then hey. :)
