I have been playing this since I got it yesterday and have put in about 10-15 long sessions and have had 1, maybe 2, crashes. I got the game after the v1.1 update. How many of you guys updated to 1.1 from 1.0? That could have something to do with it. Awesome game BTW, even as a player that said there would be no equal to POWDER, this has a different yet refreshing flow to it. So really both could exsist on the iDevice (if SOMEONE would port POWDER) and not grow old.
The goal is to get the sword out, there's no score at the end. The level cap is 25 so even if you max out you still need to put in some work to get it and get out. You don't NEED to fully clear a floor, but the more you search... the more you find. Potions, Spells, New shields, Amulets, and Special Items can mean all the difference when you only have one life to lose
I may have seen the skull (though I don't think I saw it for what it was - I just vaguely remember it being a door with something on it), but yeah, I tend to rush around sometimes (afterall, the control scheme makes it so darn easy!). Besides, I think I wasn't prepared for how many changes there were in this update. Also, I thought I saw that door before without the same type of thing behind it. Anyway, lesson learned - you can be sure I'll be looking out more from now on. Also, thanks for the info about the light spell - couldn't remember what it did (I think I only used it once in the past).
We are still working on the various details for how to score the game, but yes, we want to avoid awarding better scores for grinding. If you think about the actual quest, as if it was a 2 hour movie the most heroic thing to do would be to get in fast, get the sword and get out fast. So that's what we'll focus on. Really, I don't think you need to clear everything... you may want to search for unique items and gear up, you may want to spend time fighting and getting powerful, you might try to stick to the shadows and sneak down fast. It's really up to you. Really I never noticed. But yes, I've already fixed most of the bugs reported here, and the updates will be coming faster from now on. When/how did it crash? During play, or during dungeon creation? I know that low memory (due to Safari etc.) can cause issues for most apps, but if it's just during regular old play, it's something I should be able to solve.
This might be a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyways: Is this game worth $4.99? That isn't to say, "do you like this game?" but if I am unsure about whether or not I will like it, should I just wait for it to be discounted or are there people that feel strongly enough that this is a $4.99 game?
What does toxic gas do? I got sprayed when opening a chest and, despite my avatar flashing red, nothing happened.
Toxic does damage and has a chance to blind you. There's also another subtle effect which I was surprised to learn about today...
Sickness right? What happens then...? I was confused because at the top it said "Toxic gas, you can't see anything" and yet I could see fine.
No, not sickness. The strong smell of the toxic gas repels beasts with sensitive noses. I've yet to find an item that stops blind from taking effect. Telepathy potions might help during blindness (untested) and Dragon's Eyes actually make enemies glow so you can still see and attack
Man, since this update came out, I've become addicted to this game all over again! Awesome amount of new content, yet the game still retains the simplicity that made it so playable to begin with. Well done! That aside, I have encountered a bug I didn't see mentioned here. Basically, I started a fight with the camera zoomed out (double-tap), then, after the fight, zoomed back in. Now, every time I finish a fight, find a corpse in a box, or anything that changes the zoom, it defaults back to the zoomed-out setting. I've restarted the app, switched save files, etc, but it's still doing it after every fight. Not a huge gamebreaker, but i'd like to see it fixed Edit: I'm a moron. I didn't know you could pinch-zoom to tweak that - I was using the default levels exclusively. One pinch and THAT issue disappeared completely! This game is back down to having zero things that bother me!
Yeah, you may have set the zoomed-out view as default by accidentally doing a little unnoticed pinch-zoom while fully zoomed. But yeah, just pinch-zoom and that will always be your preferred zoom level. So what all stuff has everyone found so far? What are your favourite bits? What are your least-favourite (bugs aside)?
? They were safe before? I thought I had been attacked while on a temple before the update... Could be wrong though
They've never been safe. But it feels like the AI is tougher and specifically attack you on the temple cause they know you are weak. I've been chased off of it many times --- Mebes: That was there before. You set it and stand to create a mist to hide yourself, free teleport to temple, and when you cast the teleport spell you are taken tithe beacon instead of a random location
Alright, I finally got it...I couldn't resist looking at that beautiful icon sitting there on my wish list any longer. And I've been following this thread for what seems like forever. Man, I went on a three-game app shopping rampage today. I guess I'm just finally to the point where I can put iNethack down for a while. I think the final straw was when I fell down a staircase and died because I was on my horse.
