Same here, and since I've yet to go deeper than level 6 before dying post update (on 6 again now, so hope I'm not jinxing myself), seems like a solid plan. Legend is calling to me though... I keep considering starting up a Legend hero and playing each at the same time, then realize how stupid that would be, and keep plugging along.
I'm enjoying the update a lot, but with one caveat. It takes waay too long to regenerate health, even when standing on a temple. So long, in fact, that I suspect my game might be bugged. By way of illustration, I got into a fight and went down to 40 health. I walked over to the temple, and stood on it. In that time, I went and registered for this site and made this post. I still haven't fully regenerated my health (I'm level 19, 215 max HP). At this rate, I could spend my entire play session on the train standing on the temple regenerating without ever getting to actually play.
Are you sick, or hopped up on agility potions? Both of those will reduce your healing rate. Otherwise, it's not a bug. Temple isn't instant healing. Use potions, or get a temple blessing, or find other ways to get your health back. Here, try this... cast 3 regeneration spells, stand on a temple, and sacrifice a chicken. I bet you'll be healed in no time. You might not need to do the last part.
Really looking forward to downloading the update, but haven't finished the epic quest I'm on at the moment using the older version. For a while I'd got distracted just exploring the lower levels, had forgotten all about the sword, and had pretty much become like the monsters in the dungeon- wandering around, attacking things, causing trouble. Some great moments emerging from the gameplay- love how things can go from being a breeze to being a nightmare within seconds. Anyway, ridiculously levelled up to level 41 now rolleyes, so finally reached that special part of the 20th floor and edging closer to the sword... To be honest been having so much fun with the general gameplay, didn't really want to reach the end, but I guess there's a whole world to be saved or something (it's been so long my poor guy can't even remember why he's meant to get the sword... his wife has probably remarried and his kids all grown up) so here we go...
The Silver Orbs are arguably even more useful. I'm really sorry you didn't go blind. I wish with all of my heart for you to go blind next time! There, feel better? Yeah, it doesn't always behave exactly the same every time. And that's OK, it's by design. Move along, nothing to see here.
I see what you did there...cheeky. Well, initial impressions--the game is a work of art with regard to graphics & music. Controls are great, and there seems to be a lot of content. Legend mode is not disappointing me in terms of difficulty. The first thing that I miss though, is the lack of a "hall of dead heroes" screen. The save slots seems to be meant to function in that way, I guess, but I prefer the personal leaderboard approach to that so it stays on there as long as I have the game. Minor quibble. I'm putting some serious time into it this weekend. happy to be in Club Fargoal, now I can talk in the cool kids' thread.
Hey medianotzu, glad you're enjoying it! Rest assured, we will be adding a Hall of Dead Heroes... in fact, we already save all of the dead and victorious character sheets in anticipation of this. So once we have an update with the functionality in it, *BAMF* all of your top dead heroes will be there.
Oh nice! Any chance of furthermore adding the option to customize the name of your heroes so you can kill off those whom you know and love in the game?
Hmm, you should already be able to change the hero name upon creation... can't edit after it's created though.
Yeesh...how did I miss that? Thanks for the tip. Btw, that fog is a thing of beauty. Fargoal, welcome to my sig! I should have bought you long ago.
I think I was probably poisoned. I'll turn this into feedback then instead--temple healing should be faster. At the higher levels, it takes too long.
I see Slide to Play have upped their review score to 3 out of 4 (stupid scoring system) which I still think is too low. To be honest, I have always declared Final Fantasy VII as my favourite game of all time and I don't think that can ever change as I don't feel the way about games as I used to. These days FF VII is quite a retro title by todays standards and it was the first time I'd ever seen quality graphics, FMV, story, sound/music, and fun all wrapped up into one title. However, going back to it now is a bit painful because I want to remember it for how it was the first time I played through it. The point is IF Sword of Fargoal (the current updated version) had come out for PlayStation or PC back in the day then I'm thinking it would have become my favourite game ever, never to be surpassed. So, to answer the questions if you should get it.... YES, it really is that good* * But will be a bit better when the bugs are fixed
I am really enjoying this update so far. I really like the addition of shields in particular. I also stumbled upon a treasure room today which as far as I know is something new. I did find one bug to report however. I had accumulated a few wands and realized that I had no idea how to use them. I went back to the main menu and selected the tutorial and played through it to learn how wands are used. When I went back and selected my in-progress game, it was reset back to the previous save state. I had lost about four levels worth of adventuring. It seems like going either back to the main menu or the tutorial failed to save my game progress.
That means a lot coming from you, Mr. blue wobblez. Makes it more understandable why you're so picky about the game, heh. Oy! Yeah, that sounds like a bad scene, man. I will verify that here and make sure the current game gets saved before starting the tutorial. Good catch!
