I'm curious, did you guys see A3 earlier, and just not think about it? Or think it was good? Or not see it at all? Khamous, great job!
I wrote down 1)g3-b4 2)a3-e3, first, but sent in 1) g3-b4 2)g7-c5 --meant d6 so resent 1) g3-b4 2)g7-d6 for my second guesses.
But I'm curious about Haf, I saw the runner and it was my 1st though, but the last 3 days my 1st though was wrong, so yea...
Just a quick note, then I'll post the longer version. When there is a runner like A3 just waiting to move out (and with a jump!) and Blue is fairly blocked, it's always good to get him going. But there is more to it than that in this position.
Today's moves: Posistion One Best Move: G3-B4 - Unblocks Red and blocks Blue. - Opens lane 3 for a potential good run. - Really the only good move Red has here. Other Moves: E1-B4 - The only other decent option to block Blue with a 5. Position Two Best Move: A3 - Take the opportunity to get Red runner A3 advanced with a jump. - If you don't move A3 now, Blue could trap him with the blocks B4-C3 or F5-D3. - Gets most vulnerable Red runner advanced at a good time, while Blue is blocked up pretty well everywhere already. Other Moves: H2 - Not necessary now. H2 is in no danger at all of being blocked. F5-C4 - Does unblock Red and blocks Blue. - But opens lane 5 for Blue, and with an easy jump! Better to wait for something like F5-D5 here. G7-F6 - Unblocks both Red and Blue, and blocks Blue behind Red in lane 6. - But would be better to do something like G7-E7 with this jammer. - A3 is more important to move now, then work on keeping Blue bottled up in lanes 6 and 7.
Looks like several people saw A3 right off the bat, but dismissed it as too obvious. But this time the obvious one was actually the best one.
Thanks for playing, everyone! Just a thought. As you can see from cathy and Khamous both getting G3-B4 correct quickly, and the "almost" guesses at A3, it is always extremely close in these contests. I think Khamous actually improved his game by risking a longer thought process on the second round, and it paid off.
Yes, I actually played a couple of rounds of actual Jamzu today whenever I had the time to improve my vision , guess it helped, that and not rushing like the rest of the week. See you guys tomorrow
