@Noam Firstly congrats to your lead programmer on the birth of his daughter! Secondly, all the best and speedy recovery for your eye, Noam. Finally, thanks for the new beta! Will begin to test it once I'm home!
Oh my goodness the things that happen overnight! I only got one emailed build so I hope that one is the working one!
Yes I got the version that works! Seems wonderful. Couple things though after playing a few minutes. My biggest gripe was that when you ask for a hint the screen does not turn itself to the correct position to use the hint. As I said before using the hint, wasting the stars, could result in frustration as people throw the ball from the opposite side, etc just because the orientation of the screen when the hint arrives is wrong. Also, I think it is great that you will add more levels (that are complete already) in updates - BUT - on the screen that has the level pack select you might consider leaving off the ones that say "coming soon." Many times developers have promised updates and never deliver. I can't tell you how many games I have that have that "coming soon" box on them a year or more later, abandoned for whatever reason - big and small developers alike! So I would respectfully suggest you think about removing those boxes for now and then adding them back when you have the new content ready in an update. People will be happy with the game as is, will be surprised and happy that new content is here, and you will not make some possible buyers skeptics. Because many people have been burned by that notion they will not purchase the game until that "coming soon" box is filled in with the promised content. Just my two cents as always but I am sure you know what you are doing!
Thanks! As to pointing the screen to the to the correct position to use the hint, this is very hard to implement but I will think about it if we see this complaint popping out a lot. As to promising more levels, thanks for the advice - I totally understand your point, but since we do already have these levels and we intend to deliver our promise, I'd rather tell people about it assuming the worst thing that can happen is that they think they are buying 60 levels and later have a good surprise when they get the update. These updates will be submitted fast enough to gain a good solid reputation among customers. BTW, what do you think of the levels you played so far?
Between the various builds I think I might have hit upon them all! I really like them. They are fun and get quite tricky to figure out. I didn't try the Toshi died part yet and I am hoping that part was left out too. That was my only other gripe so not bad having those two gripes huh? If you can figure out how to autocenter the screen for the hint I think that might be useful as I hope you can see my point - the hint appears in whatever orientation you are in when you ask for it. It might even be backwards. Players might get frustrated that the hint "doesn't work." Well it does work just you need to be looking at the level properly. But I can see that since you have the coming soon levels already done and if you plan to release them quickly that will show people that are waiting to purchase even, that you plan to deliver your promise. Unfortunately you have a bunch of developer stereotypes formed by those that came before you to fight (no fault of your own!) and so some people might be skeptics and not buy straight away but wait for the update. It would be interesting to see how sales fluctuate between and after updates.
I'm guessing youre right and that sales will fluctuate, but since we are also fixing some problematic levels on the first update, based on the stats we get from the massive beta (which levels were skipped or made people leave the game), it's OK that we get more people AFTER the first update because the game flow would be much better in this version. This I hope will increase the chance of the game getting viral.
do you plan on supporting this game a little more? i saw eco punk with a lot of potential, but you decided to not give it updates
Thanks, I'm glad you like Eco-Punk Eco-Punk just didn't show enough commercial success to make it worthwhile to update frequently, even though we do plan on releasing a universal update in the future. We always keep our promises and we promise to update Save Toshi so it will have 100 levels and more backgrounds. If the game becomes a commercial success we would happily update it with more fresh a and new content but really we can't promise that in advance.
Great! thanks Alex Thanks We do, but it will take some time since our first mission after Toshi is to port some games to Android.
I might just get it anyhow!! So you guys submitted the game I saw on twitter! Sweet! I will still play with the latest build this week end once back home!!
Thanks man! The game has been submitted and we hope it will get approved in a week or so (you can never know
