Bad expansion pack-related news: today Apple rejected the Official Quest Expansion Pack, because of some 'sexual content' - based on the info they gave we think it's simply the streetwalkers' usual greetings text, which is interesting because they were always there from the first version of the base game, but Apple didn't care about them until now.
So now we must change that text and send the pack again to them - which means (if everything will be OK) it will be out only on the next weekend. Thanks for your patience. : )

Sylon...sorry to hear the Puritanical censors at Apple have struck again :( Hopefully, the expansion pack will be approved soon because I'm really excited about continuing The Quest.

What a shame, perhaps if you had given the streetwalkers a gun and started shooting everybody, it would have passed their crazy american censorship!

I guess they never read the in-game dialogue of the base game, some of the them are explicit (the kind of thing that you can listen in every film, nothing special) but however clearly over the low apple censurship limit..

Why shouldn't we be able to have games with explicit content? There's got to be a way to have age checks, whether it be through your iTunes account or simply entering in a date of birth... if there's a disclaimer, no one is to blame.

Plus, the majority of people owning iPhones are most definitely over 18. I sure hope there aren't a lot of kids running around with iPhones..

Ive stopped wondering about iphone censorship a long time ago. It just goes to show that it probably is a bad idea when censorship gets in the hands of private companies who are afraid to offend..well, just about anybody because anybody can be their customer. On the other hand, I also I think it is a question of overload. With the sheer volume of apps being reviewed its no wonder consistency is elusive.

Thank the baby shaker app for apples new change in policy. Hell, we only have speedbumps because some moron ran over a kid. Actually, its not baby shaker, thank the moms who complained to no end about a game that has no meaning.

I spotted v2.0 in the App store a minte ago and went Yeehaw. Now this :(

    Yeah, absolutely...

Purportedly iPhone OS 3.0 will solve that issue...

Until then, patiently waiting in anticipation of the Expansion pack.

I have no clue what to do. I am a level 7 ranger. I have finished all the quests in Matras and I have finished the noblemans chest in Vastares. I am having a VERY hard time with the shamans (damn em!) and I do not feel like grinding on orcs. Any other big quests in Vastares? Or should I start moving on. I died while in the swamps....

This Matras Infection quest that you get at the beginning of the game - do you HAVE to use a friggin' spell to make the tunnel collapse? If so, why on earth is that?! :S

Will any spell do? Can I just purchase a scroll of Magic Missile and use it?

I'm playing as a thief/assassin so, that's why I'm all worked up about it.

A few pages ago there was a list of quests posted by @neophyte. Check through this as there are LOTS of quests to be found in this game. You should not assume you have finished all the quests in a given town! You may have finished them or you may not have finished them all for Matras.

The Shamans are really tricky. If you are really struggling against them then maybe a change in tactics is in order. Shamans use magic to attack you. So the higher your resistance or immunity to this type of attack, the better you will be able to fight against them. They also prefer a ranged attack and I found that they generally did not do as much damage if you could get up right next to them and attack them. Here are a few ideas that helped me not to be killed every turn against the Shamans:

    1) Beef up your magic immunity/resistance. You can do this slowly through skill points when you level up or you can purchase items (weapons, armour, shields, boots, capes, helms, rings, etc) that will increase our resistance to magic. If you have some enchantable items you can pay someone to enchant them to increase your magic resistance. It is well worth it and can have a big impact on surviving the Shamans.

    2) Potions, scrolls and magic wands are great for increasing your health points and also for giving you immunity and or resistance to magic. Wands are particularly great as you can re-enchant them yourself or pay someone to do so.

    3) Visit the library and all the shops every day or so. The type of spell books, potions and scrolls they sell changes regularly. Purchase and then read any spell books and then sell them back. I found the Magic Immunity spell particularly effective against the Shamans. Although it did have a very high mana cost and I did have to recast it every few turns. The Resist Magic spell is better, but the only time I have found it was as a reward after I killed the Witch Queen. So for a lot of the game I had to make do with the Magic Immunity spell.

    4) Shamans are weaker against a melee attack. If you can get right next to them they will often stop casting lightning against you and cast weaker spells of defense (well at least weaker in the sense that those spells don't blow you away in one turn! :D).

    5) If you are a ranger you should have some good skills with a bow and arrow. Invest in some really powerful arrows and a good bow. Use a potion or spell to beef up your magic resistance, etc then hit the Shamans with a ranged attack to weaken them up before moving in for the kill.

    6) Save is your friend. Save the game and try the same battle using different tactics. Experiment and find what works best for your characters level and skills.

    7) If the above fails then you can try to level up by attempting new quests. Travel by hugging the coast-line. You can reach the Monastry via the coastline to the west of Vastares and going south. Once you start going east though you will eventually run into Witches. Who are nearly as bad as the Shamans...

    8) Use the Search function to search this thread by the word 'Shaman'. There is lots more advice by different people on ideas for how to battle the Shamans.

Remember that if you need gold to purchase equipment you can gamble at the inns. If you do then save is your friend! Save before gambling and reload if you lose. It takes time but is an easy way to get gold and will allow you to purchase potions, spell books, equipment, enchantments, etc that will make life a lot easier for you.

i am completely stumped on the undead city...

    redshift help!
is there any way to get rotten food and contaminated water other than walking around the entire continent?
i tried talking to the guards, the creepy guy in the tower, and even leaving food in bins for a few days to rot as well as leaving it in the bubbly stuff under ground for a bit-
    all to no avail.

also i can't seem to figure out how to clear the boulders in the undead city-
i've tried every spell that i have

(ps... as an avid rpg'er this game has kept me occupied for weeks- i am in love!!!)

You can find rotten food and contaminated water at the inn at Matras. Search the Undead City for a particular weapon (if you haven't already found it) that can be used to smash the boulder. If you need a more detailed hint...let me know and I will e-mail you.
