iPad The Quest

    ive been wandering around Thule for a while now, following tracks and such, but i cant seem to find the creature or whatever it is that has caused this disease. ive wandered all through the ice cves and all over the map. what am i missing?

    SugaCookie... I think you might need to look around Thule Abbey more.. and make sure you talk to everyone.

    And if you want help with the quest on a forum where you are guaranteed to get an answer, and most of the time quickly, then visit the quest fansite. We also have Quest guides, a bestiary and chatroom.

    Bug in latest version?

    Is there a nasty bug in the latest version? It keeps kicking me out of the game and sending me to the App Store. I even bought the expansion, thinking that would make it stop (I would have bought it anyways), but it still sends me there.

    Too make things worse, I'm almost done. There is one place in the other dimension where I have to use my rope. As soon as I touch my rope, it sends me to the App Store. Now I can't solve the game!!!

    Any work arounds, or do I have to wait for an update from Redshift?

    I also encountered this exact same problem. I even tried activating the expansion for the second time, thinking the main app was somehow looking for it. It also happened inside the Vastares City Center where I tried to unlock a door with a skeleton key.

    Yes there is a bug. :( We are very sorry. We have already uploaded the fixed version to Apple, but unfortunatelly nowadays it takes a lot of time for them to review apps, the 2.1 version spent more than two weeks in review. Even the 'normal' expected time is around 8-9 days, so optimistically expect the fixed version in the app store around june 24.

    Once again, we are sorry.

    The Quest is a great game. I bought it and the expansion and I do not regret it.

    Are you planning to release more expansions...

    Well, no more expansions. We are planning a card game (loosely based on the game in the Quest) and an all new RPG.

    However, as a parallel side project, we are also planning a new Quest adventure. If we make it (it's not a definite thing yet) it will use the Quest engine, but it will be a completely new game. It will still be set in the Quest universe, but as it is being designed by a different person than the Quest, it will have a different 'feel'.

    For anyone experiencing the "answering 'yes' to a pop-up dialog takes you to the app store" bug:

    One user apparently found a workaround, at least for crossing pits by attaching a rope:
    • select yes to attach the rope (the game will exit)
    • restart the game and tap the rope (which is now attached)
    • select yes again (the game exits again)
    • restart the game and select 'continue', and now you are over the pit

    Of course the ideal solution is to download the new version when it appears in the app store. Let's hope Apple doesn't take long.

    I was the 3D/graphics programmer and I did the iPhone port. :) (The other programmer (Stewe) who did most of the work on The Quest has left us a long time ago.)

    Brom's potion and wine quest

    I've been having trouble triggering the Brom's potion and wine quest. Am I supposed to talk to the Blacksmith in Phryn? When I do, I only get the "about the shop" dialog. I already have the bloody skull, but have not given it to the mayor. Have I already missed the window for this quest? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    There is an even better workaround which works in every case:
    • go into "settings" on your iPod/iPhone
    • go to "general"
    • go to "restrictions"
    • set all to "off"
    Now when you play the game it won't exit or open the app store. It will just bring up a box that said it couldn't open the url. Touch "ok" and keep playing.

    And hopefully the fixed version will appear in the app store soon now.

    Yes, and IIRC you have to ask him whether he had anything to do with the death of the sorceress, so maybe if you already have the skull, you can't activate it anymore..
