Just wanted to let you know about our recently updated app, Voicecentral. It brings all the convenience of Google Voice to the iPhone platform. Including visual voicemail, dialing via your Google number, call history, SMS, transcriptions, and notes. All while on the go, which in the past was the hardest part of using Grandcentral on the iPhone. We have a lot more information here: http://www.riverturn.com/iphone/ And here: http://www.riverturn.com/blog/ [[app=VoiceCentral]App Store[/app]] $2.99 Here are some screenshots:
You probably know this already but here's where you go to get on the list (which they are opening up a little more each day): https://services.google.com/fb/forms/googlevoiceinvite/
Anyone else picked up the webapp version of VoiceCentral that was recently released? It's pretty amazing in that I had no idea just what could be done with a web app on the iPhone. You can't tell any difference between this and a "real app". The only thing in which you can tell is that it doesn't integrate with the iPhone contacts (but you can sync contacts with google via the Mac address book), and it can't have notifications. That does suck, but there are ways around the latter. I'm using https://www.gvmax.com/ to forward Google voice mail and SMS notifications to my AIM IM account and have BeejiveIM for IM, which provides notifications. It's a kludge, but it works. Here is VoiceCentral web app: http://voicecentral.riverturn.com/ Free with ads and a few less features, or you can get a $6 per year (limited time offer, then $10 per year) subscription which gets rid of the ads and adds some additional feature. I decided to get a subscription. EDIT: I wish Apple would stop being an ass and allow Google Voice apps in the app store. Meanwhile this is probably the best we can get on the iPhone. On the plus side, since it's a web app, updates are not vetted through Apple, so they can push out updates to the "app" instantly. EDIT2: incidentally, this does *not* run in Safari. The web app seems to be running in it's own application. You just have to give it a shot to see what I mean.
