Are you me? A few weeks ago, I watched a few videos on XCOM: Enemy Unknown, even though I've always hated strategy games with a passion. But I had a little extra cash from my birthday and XCOM looked interesting so I tried it out and holy cow. Never has a game rocketed into my top 5 games of all time as fast as XCOM did. Now Strategy games are my favorite genre of video games, and with great timing, too. Right as I got into strategy games, a lot of high profile strategy games started coming out on iOS: Leviathan Warships, Frozen Synapse, Eclipse: New Dawn for the Galaxy, Sid Meier's Ace Patrol, and now WARHAMMER QUEST! I've bought all the games I've listed above but I don't think I'll enjoy them half as much as I expect to enjoy Warhammer Quest! This game should hold me for a long time! At least until the iPad release of XCOM: Enemy Uknown in a few months...
Ahh okay, thanks. I went into multitasking and closed it & it reopened fine - and seems to auto save, hurrah! - but it's almost 1AM so I should really sleep.. so I have energy to play all day tomorrow! (Not really. I wish.) I only got about 5-10 minutes into the game, and so far I REALLY like it. I need to get used to/better at turn-based movement, but that's on me, not the game. It's really pretty, the graphics/sound/animations look great, and although I haven't done anything with WQ in the past, I'm sure I'll learn plenty of lore here. Oh, are you stuck with the avatar/gender/name each hero comes with, or can you change it?
Didnt get Frozen Synapse yet but I did try the PC demo and it is awesome So what sold you on XCOM? Me, I read one review where the author described a scenario where he entered a room carelessly, first guy got obliterated, another started panicking in the corner and blow a hole in the wall with a rocket, guy in the back got mind controlled and killed two more. Then the zombies came... The fact that that kind of stuff could happen was just fascinating. And I had just seen Act of Valor and wanted a game where I could coordinate squad tactics...
for those that play the original tabletop game Were this classes could be use? Chosen, Witch Hunter, White Lion I would love to see those as a iap or update in the future but dont know is those were classes created for the age of reckoning mmo
You make this game run on 3gen iPod touch which is great, but then kick us in the behind by making this game require iOS 6.0!! Why?????????
Still unable to download, still getting the Not Available message. I closed out the App Store app and turned my device off and on. What else can I do? Or should I just try tomorrow? --- I just love this screenshot! If I hadn't already bought the game, I think this picture would have sold me. There's something about the four heroes back to back against such tough odds, the whole atmosphere of the shot that is just badass
if you have a pc nearby you should try there and then in the app store app in your device go into your pruchases and try that way
I'd like comments on this topic from the forum's front page review. For the most part, I've no issues with IAPs, but only when it becomes a required pay wall needed to level up. Thoughts? "Sadly, there are a few flies in this ointment. One point of debate is the inclusion of some IAPs. Gold is an important resource in the game as it is needed for both new items and leveling. You will earn some through the game and can also pay for it if you prefer. The issue comes when certain random events can take large amounts of your gold. This seems like a conflict of interest to me. While other purchases make sense in terms of basic expansions, this one just seems off. It is a strange choice in an otherwise excellent game."
The German translation is absolutely horrible. I can only suspect that they did that with the Google translator. And this is a premium product for 20 bucks total. I am disappointed. I expected more from GW / Rodeogames. Switching to English language.
Very, very sorry I bought this. I thought at the price iap would be reasonable and you can't rely on biased reviewers to fill you in on rip off iaps but this game has a HUGE rip off iap system I had 250 gold and visited the training grounds for the very first time and got a huge shock!! I was offered dialogue quests when each character entered the training ground. Now I thought I should take them. Result was I had 90 gold deducted from my petty 250 so now I've only got 160. This is by design. Wonder why we didn't get told about this in the review??? I would never have bought this. Iap worse than Chillino. It randomely takes gold from you when it feels like it and there's NOTHING you can do but BUY more! Rip off with a capital R. And that's just the start. Later I expect it may take 100's of gold. That ruins the game for me. I bought it when the reviewer said that you don't really need to buy gold unless you are really into the game which is false. Clearly the iap system was not scrutinised and I wasted $5.49 on a game full of iaps and pay walls. Not good.
If you think the only way to earn gold in this game is to buy it with real money, you're doing something seriously wrong.
Is that your only flaw? What about the actual game? --- Question: is the training ground a place where you can get some extra experience? Because I know in some other RPGs, usually you do have to pay ingame currency for training.
With respect, it sounds like you've barely played the game yet if you've come here to post right after visiting the training grounds for the "very first time". Have you tried earning gold in game yet? You don't even seem to be aware that that is possible.
