Hopefully there'll be further quests, enemies, items and full expansions to come down the line. You need one of these:
Can anyone explain the details behind the stats? I couldn't find any specific info about what each one does, particularly the interplay between weapon skill/strength/toughness. Also, how do you increase the number of attacks a char gets?
Very tempted by this but the iap fiasco makes me change my mind. I don't mind paying for a good game but I begrudge paying a decent price and STILL having iap's shoved in my face. This will no doubt go freemium within a month, I'll wait and check it then. Your loss Devs, no iaps and you have my money, iap consumables and you've lost me as a customer.
The chance of hitting an opponent is based on the difference in weapon skill between the combatants. Strength boosts your outgoing damage, while toughness reduces incoming damage. Level up and train, or find a weapon with a "+X attacks" bonus.
It'wonderful! A dream come true for me that have played Moria and Angband for more than 200 hours. The only complain is the screen rotation for the inventory, i always play with the iPad horizontaly on table and for me rotate is a bit of pain.
Mm-hmm, the rotation isn't such a major issue for iPhones and iPods, but for the iPad there really does need to be a simple button that lets you access the inventory in landscape orientation. I have no doubt that we'll see that in one of the first updates, because it's a pretty glaring issue for a number of reasons that have already been covered in this thread.
What fiasco? We've obviously not read the same 44 page thread where only a couple of people have complained about IAP (only one of whom had actually bought the game)
and children... this is why crap apps, freemium and iap riddled trash are currently are crippling the app store. *golfclap* Because people like you fall for their tricks.
That's because none of the rest of us are remotely surprised that an RPG type game in which you can earn gold may also take it away from you through negative events like theft etc. That's not the issue though, it would only be an issue if they make it hard to earn enough gold to buy equipment, and regularly and unfairly stole so much gold from you that making an in-app purchase was the only way to progress at a reasonable rate. But you haven't played it enough to know that, or even that you can recoup that first gold loss by selling a single bit of random loot. That's why I suggested you play it more before complaining.
Using terms like 'fiasco' and 'tricks' isn't fair in this case. I dislike IAP's as much as the next guy. But in this case you get a very good base game for £3, with OPTIONAL IAP if you want them. There is no 'fiasco'.
I'm not understanding, it has been explained ad nauseum that the gold is not needed to play AT ALL! I understand the IAP hate but the gold is not needed to properly play the game, only for those who "don't want to wait to level up". The expansion and other characters are DLC which honestly I don't place in the same league as consumable IAP.
There's an entire galaxy of difference between the type of shitty consumable IAPs most freemium apps are built on, and the mostly permanent content-based IAPs in this app (just one consumable IAP). The fact you posted what you did proves without doubt that you can't grasp the difference and therefore haven't got anything to contribute here.
I hasnt been explained ad nauseum really - at least, not the gold IAP (I appreciate the non-consumable IAP is a different question). The gold IAP has come up a couple of times in this thread, and doesn't really come up in the review at all - not that I will ever trust a TA review to give an objective description of the IAPs in an app, they're consistently a dreadful reviewer in that respect. Fact is, when people see consumable IAPs in a paid app, they are *right* to think " why?" And come here or elsewhere to ask. It's going to happen a lot. Get used to typing "its not like usual consumable IAPs, you don't really need the gold IAPs unless you can't handle earning experience and levelling up like normal gamers. This is not Real Racing 3."
So this review gave the game a 2 out of 5 "I was several missions into Warhammer Quest before something dawned on me that must be obvious to a lot of you. Warhammer Quest is based on a boardgame. Which explains a lot. But what it doesn’t explain is why this is such a terrible boardgame port." http://www.quartertothree.com/fp/2013/05/29/in-warhammer-quest-the-emperor-has-no-dice/ What do you think? IMO, the review is totally unfair in its comparisons and examples
