Thanks. These have been added to the list. Edit.: I'm almost tempted to start a wikia about the game now
Yeah, I think I have 4/5 ranged and 2 melee on my lvl 4 waywatcher. I have that one amulet that adds the extra range attack. Makes up for some of her misses that were frustrating early on. She usually goes last and cleans up all the leftovers.
Grey wizard Heartbeat Cost - 10 Heal the targetted warrior for between 1 wound and 6 times their battle level wounds.
IF anyone can give me the cost of the following grey wizard skill, it would be great : Twilight Translocation Blade of Night Okkam's Mindrazor Blood Pulse I could also use any information about the available Warpriest and/or Trollslayer skills
Okkam's Mindrazor costs 7 - and is absolutely fantastic. It fires three shots at a single target, each doing between 7 and 10 (I think).
In order you put Cost = 3 Cost = 4 Cost = 7 Cost = 7 For the troll slayer level 5 haven't got my level 6 skill yet but close Lessen blow (passive) The Trollslayer takes fewer wounds than normal whenever he is damaged by from physical sources. The level of damage reduction increases with the Trollslayer's battle level. Berserk (active) Each turn, before attacking, the Trollslayer may try to go berserk. The chance of going berserk increases with the number of enemies killed by the Trollslayer during combat, and with his battle level. There is a small chance the Trollslayer will enrage, damaging all adjacent warriors, and preventing him from taking any actions for the turn. If he is able to control himself, he remains in a berserk state and gains bonus strength until the end of combat. Slaying (passive) When the Trollslayer critically hits a monster, he cleaves through the Monster's defences with ease. For that blow, the Trollslayer causes an additional 4 - 6 damage depending on his battle level.
.. So guys help me put together the most ideal party real quick. The primary healer is the grey wizard? Do you absolutely need healing in this game? I would say Maurader as tank with a shield, Grey Wizard as healer, then we need a ranged character and a 2 handed weapon type character for damage dealing? The IAP characters seem kind of meh besides the Trollslayer, I dont like how the War Priest and Arch mage like switch from defensive to offensive based on rolls and such. Any input? I am looking for a solid team that can make it through the game decently. Later on maybe we could look at more funner type of groups though.
There are basically 3 types of characters. Melee, ranged and caster. The Melee's are the Marauder, Ironbreaker and Trollslayer, with the Warrior Priest thrown, although he doubles (kind of) as a caster. Ranged is only the Elf. Caster's are the Grey Wizard and the Archmage. I usually use both Caster's and either two melee or a melee and a ranged. Sometimes, if the quest lvl is low, will go two melee, one ranged and one caster. The Trollslayer is actually the worst of the IAP characters, only because he brings nothing over what the Marauder and Ironbreaker do. The War Priest does not switch between offense and defense for his spells, which aren't really spells so much as per turn abilities. He is a fairly impressive tank, his Jade Ring is really good (although annoying early on) and his Intervention skill, if it works, can make fights go alot quicker. The Archmage is also really good. His skill do switch between offensive and defensive, but with planning early and disregard later (since it mostly won't affect the fight outcome) this matters little. The Archmage is very powerful and gets the best Offensive based spells in the game, although Mindrazor's is apparently really good. That's just MHO though. I bought all three because I want to support the company into releasing more expansion packs and characters, hopefully some Chaos Warriors releases ::drool:: whoda whoda
In addition to what whoda said, I would also add that you don't need to play this game in the traditional sense. (i.e. tank, dedicated healer and hiding squishies) I don't believe there is aggro in this game. I could be wrong, but in playing, I think the monsters generally go towards the weakest member of your party first. So if you want to tank, the only effective way of doing it is by having two tough guys bottle necking a passageway and have your casters and archer in the back. That does work, but it's kinda boring. Not to mention, there is always a chance that you get a bad roll and new reinforcements show up behind your tank line anyway. I would say just try to generally get toughness and hp for all your guys and have them all go in the middle of the fray. Most of the perceived non-tanks can take a few hits. Even though, I am not playing hardcore, I rarely have party members get knocked out. Disclaimer: I have mostly level 4 and 5s now, but I have not done the last dungeon yet. As for healers, you don't really need a dedicated healer. Just make sure either your wizard or archmage have at least one heal spell to use in a pinch. Otherwise, there are enough regen rings and equipment out there that to bring your party members back to full or 90% health in between battles. Just my two cents.
Marauder is also ranged he can equip and use all bows.He can also get ability to have same amount of ranged attacks as he has melee attacks which makes him equall to Waywatcher.
From looking at the tabletop abilities of the troll slayer, it seems like he does have some funny abilities. He's basically more of a damage dealer over the Ironbreaker, since he can't use armor / shields, but has skills that improves its damage. He's also got innate toughness through skill.
Not quite true, but close. He can not use ALL bows, only the regular bows, but yes this does make him slightly ranged. But out of all the skills he has the ability to have more ranged attacks, which he doesn't hit nearly enough with, isn't worth the skill slot to me. If you use a shortbow with him his ranged hits will increase, but his damage will suck. whoda
Regarding "who" the monster attack, it seems it's either random between the Warriors he can access, or the last Warrior that attacked them AND is next to them. Regarding those that are playing with both the Grey Wizard and the Archmage, is it possible to get two "renforcement" per Turn, or does only the first count ? is the "Wind of magic roll" the same for both characters, or is it separate ?
I personally use Marauder as a room clearer because he tends to have many melee attacks. Waywatcher is useful for picking off archers when kiting, killing off isolated weak enemies, finishing off weakened enemies and setting up deathblow opportunities. I rarely heal during combat so my Wizard acts as a boss killer (using mindrazors) and melee support. Healing does come in handy during non-combat periods. I'd suggest having either the wizard or the archmage because they can do both of these well. I like having the Priest as my last party member. He's somewhat similar to the dwarves, the prime difference being that he gets support skills instead of direct combat skills. Although the occurrence of blessings is not reliable, IMO the priest still isn't so bad without them. But, they can be a huge bonus when they do happen.
I also think there is a type of aggro. When surrounding the boss I do physical attacks with my lower HP guys first cause it seems like the last hitter is the one that gets attacked. That's not 100%, but it's mostly true. Higher lvl bosses may have a slightly smarter AI, one which I think reflects total damage dealt instead of most recent damage. whoda
