In iTunes, there is a section of the iPhone labeled the "other memory" that takes up a significant amount of space (around half a gb on my device). Does anyone know what this is and how to reduce the size of it?
It's the junk that makes the device run, like the guy above me said, the OS, system preferences, the graphics, sound effects, all that good stuff. All devices have a small chunk of their memory taken.
The memory in that section seems to shrink to 300mb sometimes and expand to like 800mb other times though, any reason behind this?
OS, etc.... and also itunes dosent recongize apps right away it takes a couple secs to refresh everything so like it might be 1Gb "other" but then it well decrease to like 700mb "apps" and 300 mb "other" which is the 1Gb of "other" reconized as 700mb of "apps"
Sometimes I get all 3GBs of my Apps which show as 'other' memory. It's weird the way it changes all the time. I would be nice if their was a native app or settings menu where you could view your memory capacity bar (like in iTunes), your battery in more detail (i.e - percentage) and other statistics such as CPU speed etc. There are some paid apps on the app store, but they don't look too good. Maybe Apple will include something like it in their 3.0 update. One thing that I am looking forward to is the ability to search your whole device for things. No more scrolling through 9 pages of apps to find one app!
Haha rather pay 99 cents and support a dev imo. Anyways, 35 e-mails wow! Thats alot. Dont get that many on mine
Happy Birthday yourofl10! Though I wouldn't send you an email for the occasion. Maybe that's because you're mad all the time and don't make sense. I recommend iStat.
No, I don't think that's what he was saying. You can get an SBSettings toggle for processes, numerical battery, and all that stuff, with jailbreak. I don't think he was saying to do it to get the app for free.
Yep. And stuff you have in Apps like Air Sharing lands there too. EDIT: And I guess the saved videos from Peggle, also.
I don't think anyone cares to get an email from a complete stranger regarding their holiday. +1 for Free Memory
